RISE AGAINST To Release ‘Nowhere Sessions’ EP In November

RISE AGAINST will release a new EP, “Nowhere Sessions”, a live expansion of its acclaimed latest album, “Nowhere Generation”, on November 12 via Loma Vista Recordings. Inspired by the album’s success and this summer’s triumphant U.S. tour playing various sold-out amphitheatres and major festival stages nationwide, the EP captures and celebrates the anthemic intensity of the band’s renowned performances, shown here in peak form. First single “Talking to Ourselves (Nowhere Sessions)” , a live version of the band’s current radio single and one of three “Nowhere Generation” tracks featured on the EP, is out now. Of the song, singer/guitarist Tim McIlrath says: “‘Talking To Ourselves’ is about watching you...

ZAKK WYLDE Is ‘Beyond Honored’ To Be Playing Alongside ERIC CLAPTON And JEFF BECK On New OZZY OSBOURNE Album

Ozzy Osbourne recently confirmed that 15 songs have been recorded for his upcoming follow-up to 2020’s “Ordinary Man” album. He is once again working with producer Andrew Watt on the “work-in-progress” LP, which will include guest appearances by Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi and Zakk Wylde. Asked about his contributions to the new Ozzy LP, Zakk told Music Radar: “The new Ozzy stuff is sounding great. And for sure, it’s an honor to play on a record with all my heroes. It’s pretty cool… I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. I’ve always loved ‘Blow By Blow’ and ‘Wired’, but honestly, every record Jeff Beck has put out is amazing.” Wylde went on to say that Beck “definitely sounds slammingR...

David Duchovny Finds Solid Ground With Gestureland

When actor, novelist and musician David Duchovny was 10 years old, he failed his Grace Church School choir audition in front of a bunch of his friends. Even worse, they’d assured him that nobody gets rejected. As Duchovny tells it, he misunderstood the instruction. When he was told to sing the note “after” the one the choirmaster played on the piano, Duchovny interpreted “after” to mean the next note in the scale and sang a higher note instead of matching what was played — a mistake he repeated several times in a row. Although he didn’t make it into the choir, his audition was impactful, nonetheless, as evidenced by the baffled looks on the faces of those who witnessed it. Even now, five decades later, Duchovny winces as he relays the anecdote. “I went home, and I was just mortified,” he s...

Dave Hause Puts Family — and an All-Star Band — First on Blood Harmony

Way back in the ancient days of October 2009, Dave Hause hit the road with Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), Jim Ward (At the Drive-In and Sparta), a slew of other revolving artists, and their acoustic guitars. It was the second annual Revival Tour — an alcohol-fueled romp featuring punk rockers playing acoustic, folksy versions of their songs (and sometimes others’ songs). “The Revival Tour was like the inside of Chuck Ragan’s brain,” Hause laughs. “It’s kind of chaotic, really beautiful, and really musical. There’s the sacred and the profane going on at all times. Everybody’s pretty drunk, but everybody’s also tapped into the lifeforce of music — and I think that might be why you can’t repeat it unless he’s there.” While everyone who was a part of the Revival Tour’s five-year run will likel...

Alex Lahey Shares Free-Spirited New Single “Spike the Punch”: Stream

Alex Lahey returns today with “Spike the Punch,” her first proper solo single of 2021. Self-produced alongside John Castle and mixed by Grammy winner Carlos de la Garza, the power-pop tune arrives with a stunning accompanying music video. Like taking a gulp of jungle juice in the wee morning hours at a house party, “Spike the Punch” feels like an inhibition-free sugar rush. Its lyrics reckon with the euphoria of ditching your morals, while the threat of real consequences always linger in the shadows: “I got my ass kicked, it was fantastic /Kept going back like a hopeless romantic,” Lahey sings in the track’s opening lines before an explosive chorus. “‘Spike the Punch’ is a song about the fun that comes with self-sabotage and reckless abandon,” Lahey wrote in a statement. “It’s big, it’s lo...
