The new owners of the elusive Wu-Tang Clan album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin have finally revealed their identities. In a new Rolling Stone feature, a group of 74 crypto fans named PleasrDAO confirmed that they were the ones who purchased Shaolin from the federal government in July for $4 million USD. The group is known for purchasing “digital collectibles honoring anti-establishment rebels,” and unlike the album’s previous owner Martin Shkreli, they plan on ideally sharing the Wu-Tang record with the world. “This beautiful piece of art, this ultimate protest against middlemen and rent-seekers of musicians and artists, went south by going into the hands of Martin Shkreli, the ultimate internet villain,” Jamis Johnson, PleasrDAO’s Chief Pleasing Officer, said. Johnson added that they want t...

Conventions be damned, SHADES have unveiled a bizarre and beautiful EP called The Dance Of Death. Comprising EPROM and Alix Perez, the SHADES duo have operated at the forefront of the post-trap era since their 2016 debut, solidifying themselves as revered sound designers in the electronic music community. The Dance Of Death serves to reinforce this notion via a record which deconstructs the tried-and-true arrangements of modern bass music, and to offer a much more nuanced approach. In other words, make sure you listen with a good pair of headphones. Alix Perez (L) and EPROM (R) of SHADES. c/o Press The EP slithers into focus with a cinematic intro called “The Creation.” Devoid of drums, it sets the tone for the ensuing experimental mayhem of “The Corruption...
This is an opinion column. The thoughts and viewpoints expressed are those of the author, Anderson Benoit Gallegos, proprietor of The Mersiv Sound Project. Sometimes it’s hard to realize how long we’ve been in this pandemic. Sometimes it feels like yesterday, sometimes it feels like a lifetime.
