TRIVIUM bassist Paolo Gregoletto spoke to Mankato, Minnesota’s “Midwest Beatdown” radio show about the COVID-19 “scare” he and his bandmates experienced early in their recently completed U.S. tour with MEGADETH, LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED. “The Metal Tour Of The Year” marked the four groups’ first run of concerts since the start of the pandemic. “Right after show three in Houston, our tour manager started getting kind of a dry cough,” he recalled (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “He kept his mask on a lot of the time in our dressing room, and I’m, like, ‘You know what? I bet he doesn’t feel good right now,’ and I had a suspicion, but I didn’t say anything. And I went to bed that night, got u...
RATING: 8/10 The legendary Floridian death metal band MASSACRE has returned from the beyond. The seminal act’s roster, past and present, has included musicians from bands such as KREATOR, DEATH, OBITUARY, NASTY SAVAGE, SIX FEET UNDER, DOWN BY LAW and more. Remarkably, the sheer number of musicians involved has exceeded a couple dozen. In recent years, core, longtime members Rick Rozz and Terry Butler have departed, and in certain cases the splits have been acrimonious, to say the least. In any event, a couple of members involved with the band’s classic era (vocalist Kam Lee and bassist Michael Borders) have brought in new blood (drummer Brynjar Helgetun and guitarists Scott Fairfax, Rogga Johansson and Jonny Pettersson) to release the band’s fourth album, “Resurgenc...
In a new interview with Radio Forrest, legendary drummer Carmine Appice was asked what he thinks John Bonham picked up from him in terms of his sound and playing style when VANILLA FUDGE and LED ZEPPELIN played together in the late 1960s. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “According to the [John Bonham] book ‘A Thunder Of Drums’, I was one of his influences. So that means that he picked up a lot of the power that I use. ‘Cause, basically, when you look back at the drummers who were influential and who were around inspiring people, it was Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon and me and Dino Danelli. All the other four guys, they played light. I played really loud with a lot of power and showmanship. And when John saw me live, he loved it, and he ...
System of a Down played their first show in more than two years last night at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile arena, which gave them the opportunity to finally perform their new songs “Genocidal Humanoidz” and “Protect the Land” live. Both songs came out last year and marked the band’s first new music in 15 years. “[This song is] about some piece of shit government that tried again to kill our people. Fuck the genocidal humanoidz!” guitarist Daron Malakian declared to the crowd before diving into the track. Prior to “Protect the Land,” singer Serj Tankian discussed the somber inspiration behind both songs and thanked fans for being part of the cause. “The combined forces of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Syria mercenaries attacked a peaceful people living in Nagorno-Karabakh who have been living there on thei...

HipHopWired Featured Video If the rap game was the dope game, Benny The Butcher would be the Pablo Escobar of the business because he seems to be supplying heads all over with the work like he an’t get enough of it off. This time around the Buffalo bully links up with RedCafe for Red’s visuals to “Money” where the two take to the streets of Times Square to goon it out after Red spends some time with Nore on the block. The cut did sample CNN’s classic “Blood Money” beat, so it made sense. On a softer side, Kash Doll seems to be yearning for intimacy as she plays the bedroom in some skimpy lingerie before having “Hubby” tryouts while sitting on her throne for the Wale and Eric Bellinger assisted clip to “Single & Happy.” Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Hit-Boy, Mo...

San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans EXODUS will release their new album, “Persona Non Grata”, on November 19 via Nuclear Blast Records. The official lyric video for the disc’s third single, “The Years Of Death And Dying”, can be viewed below. Drummer Tom Hunting comments: “‘The Years Of Death And Dying’ started out as a poem, from the perspective of Death, being a thinking entity, always watching and looking for weakness and opportunity to come calling for people. A Grim Reaper story. We were losing legends: Bowie, Cash, Petty, Prince, Frey… the list goes on and on. Then we started losing family members and friends in our own orbit. Anyway, the title came first, then the poem, which became a song. I shared the lyrics with Gary [Holt,...
SYSTEM OF A DOWN played the songs “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” live for the very first time during its October 15 concert at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Front-row fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” are the only two songs the Los Angeles-based outfit has managed to record since ending its hiatus in 2011. Released last November, the tracks were motivated by the recently erupted conflict between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, with all proceeds supporting humanitarian efforts in SYSTEM OF A DOWN‘s ancestral homeland of Armenia. Along with other donations from fans on their social pages, they have raised over $600,000. This past April, SYSTEM OF A ...
