Nita Strauss, the guitar shredder for the ALICE COOPER band, has unleashed her brand new single, “Dead Inside”, today, her first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed debut solo album “Controlled Chaos” in 2018. But this time, Nita isn’t coming alone. “Dead Inside” features her first-ever solo collaboration with a vocalist and not just any vocalist, none other than David Draiman, frontman of Grammy-nominated rock icons DISTURBED. “Dead Inside” is the kind of rare musical alchemy that can only be conjured by the serendipitous collaboration of two iconic hard rock powerhouses such as Strauss and Draiman. It kicks off with Nita‘s inimitably intricate lead guitar work and, as the intro builds, begins to snake its way...

In what seems like a drastic move to combat online toxicity, Riot Games has now disabled /all chat in the massively popular MOBA League of Legends for public matchmade games. According to an announcement from League‘s game director Andrei van Roon and lead game producer Jeremy Lee, “While /all chat can be the source of fun social interaction between teams, as well as some good-hearted banter, right now negative interactions outweigh the positives.” It also acknowledges that toxicity can also exist within team chats, but the role it plays in team coordination is too important and so disabling this aspect wouldn’t make sense at the moment. As expected, a large proportion of the response to the new measure has been negative, with many players expressing disappointment that they can ...

The trade body’s Icon Award is periodically presented at a VIP ceremony in Sydney, in the hours prior to the annual ARIA Awards. Just five ARIA Icons have been awarded. The first went to the late Mushroom Group founder Michael Gudinski in 2013, followed by Handlin, Sebastian Chase (2016), Roger Davies (2017) and Michael Chugg (2019). ARIA’s u-turn follows the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s premiere Monday night (Oct. 11) of Facing the Music: The Sony Music Scandal, a 47-minute documentary which exposed the “culture of fear, harassment and bullying” in a workplace Handlin led for 37 years. The following day, trade body Q Music revoked the honorary award presented to Handlin at the 2020 Queensland Music Awards, in his hometown Brisbane. The documentary, noted QMusic CEO Kris Stewart, ...
Yet “Easy On Me,” which leads Adele’s forthcoming album 30, is not more of the same, no matter how closely parts of the track (which Adele created with longtime collaborator Greg Kurstin) resemble her past smashes. Instead of offering more tear duct-ravaging balladry focused on long-gone exes or scorned romances, “Easy On Me” presents a different type of devastation: a plea for understanding, following a breakup that has caused too much collateral damage. “There ain’t no room for things to change / When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways,” Adele sings, her words decisive and her voice determined to get her point across. Throughout, Adele balances anthemic phrasing (can’t you already picture a crowded karaoke bar belting out “Go e-e-e-e-easy on me, baby”?) with pointed imagery (“I know...
The previous record belonged to fellow Australian Zoe Badwi’s “Release Me,” which dominated the ARIA club chart for seven-straight weeks in 2008. “Knock Knock” opened its chart account 11 weeks ago, before going on to claim the top position, with Hall becoming only the fifth Australian solo female artist to get there. “Knock Knock” also becomes the first ARIA club chart leader to feature two Australian female artists in collaboration, and it marks Thandi Phoenix’s first appearance on the tally. “So grateful to see my debut record getting so much love,” comments Hall. “Knock Knock” was a “joy to make, a joy to work with Thandi Phoenix and knowing that it brings audiences and my peers alike joy, what more could a girl want!? Big love to Team Sweat for the endless support. Feeling the moment ...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Mario Tama / Getty Dave Chappelle has once more stoked the fires of outrage from the LGBTQ community by way of his latest Netflix special, The Closer, and the controversy continues to swell. After the streaming giant seemingly sided with Chappelle by suspending a trans employee, other trans staffers are planning a walkout event in protest. As seen on The Verge, the group will embark upon its walkout on October 20 after Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos issued a statement via a company email saying that the company will not be removing Chappelle’s The Closer from its lineup. Further, Sarandos added in a memo, “Our hope is that you can be hugely inspired by entertaining the world, while also living with titles you strongly believe have no place on Netflix. This w...
