On Friday (Oct. 15), Hurd celebrates another career first with the release of his full-length debut album, Pelago, out via Arista Nashville. The album is a major milestone for the Michigan native, who initially moved to Nashville to be a songwriter instead of an artist. Hurd is signed with House of 42 for management (which also manages Morris), WME for booking and Big Machine Music for publishing. While studying sociology at Belmont University, Hurd focused on bettering his songcraft, and later found success writing for other artists, including two No. 1 Billboard Country Airplay hits for Luke Bryan, “Sunburn, Sunset, Repeat,” and “Waves.” Hurd also penned “Last Turn Home” for Tim McGraw, “You Look Good” and “What If I Never G...
Once the superstar summit of the “two weird bands” came together, Martin said it felt “very natural and it’s been an amazing experience and we love them deeply.” And while it’s difficult to bridge the large geographical gap at the moment due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Buckland said that they hope “one day” they’ll get it together and perform the single in person. Martin, however, joked that when they have stood on the same stage together, the 40-something band look like the 20-something septet’s “weird uncle” and it makes them feel way old. “We look like the people that paid for the dance lesson or something,” quipped Martin. “It’s a strange visual because you get these seven gorgeous youn...
On the new episode of Billboard’s 12 Hours With… presented by Facebook Watch, Prince Royce shares his journey to the Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he performed “Lao a Lao” for the first time. From picking his outfits to the moment he steps off the stage, his Dominican and New York roots shine through. “My best moments were in the Bronx,” remembers the chart-topping artist. “There’s a lot of successful people that come out of New York, like J.Lo, Jay-Z, Marc Anthony, and being born and raised in New York is what brought me here. It’s something that makes you want to hustle because you want to get out of the hood.” Now, the bachata singer — who’s incorporated pop, R&B and even mariachi elements into his music — has his...
Beyond those titles, he’s also landed two more EPs on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. 2018’s Legends of the Summer peaked at No. 8, while 2020’s Quarantine Pack managed a No. 22 best. Pain also debuts at No. 2 on the Top Rap Albums chart, where, as on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, it trails Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. On the all-genre Billboard 200, Pain enters at No. 3, behind Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and Drake’s Boy. As with most hip-hop releases, streaming constitutes the majority of Pain’s debut sum: 82,000 units of the 95,000 start derive from the streaming sector, representing 110.5 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs. The nine-figure total makes the rapper’s album the second-most streamed title of the week, after Drake’s Boy. Thanks to its strong stream...

To mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Prince’s fourth studio album, Controversy, today, The Prince Estate and Warner Records released a previously unheard 1979 solo demo-recording of “Do Me, Baby.” “Do Me, Baby” was on Controversy, but the track was actually recorded by Prince a few years earlier (hence the 1979 recording date). Additionally, “Do Me, Baby (Demo)” is available to pre-order as a special replica cassette single and an etched 7” single pressed onto purple vinyl. The replica cassette bears re-printed original handwriting, just as the one kept in the Paisley Park vault, and the vinyl incorporates Prince’s handwritten lyrics for the track. The artist and his best friend André Cymone recorded a demo of the track in 1978, and a year later he reimagined the song as a s...
