“Geist” is the German word for “spirit.” Indie-folk songwriter Shannon Lay stumbled upon this word as she was leafing through a vintage music terminology book, and the word struck her. After she discovered its meaning, she realized that the word epitomized the experience of making her fifth record, so she decided to name the album Geist. “The idea of spirit flows evenly through this record,” Lay tells SPIN over Zoom. “As I was making it, I was going through an intense moment and seeing the way that the human spirit finds peace in all of this chaos. It was really cool to admire how resilient we can be.” With Geist, Lay has come closer to finding her true frequency. The ‘Kingdom Hearts’ Trilogy Is Coming to the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has announced that the Kingdom Hearts trilogy will be available on the Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming. The news was confirmed shortly after it was revealed that Sora will be the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter. Players can expect Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts III and its ReMind DLC to make its way on the Switch, however a release date was not announced. Dolly Parton and her Smoky Mountain businesses have raised $700,000 to help residents impacted by the catastrophic flooding in Middle Tennessee. According to a Wednesday (Oct. 6) news release, Parton chose United Way of Humphreys County to receive and distribute the donation at the suggestion of her friend and fellow country music legend Loretta Lynn. A foreman at Lynn’s ranch was among those who died in the flood.
