A Russian actress and film producer arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) on Tuesday, where they have plans to film the first movie in orbit. Actress Yulia Peresild, 37, and producer Klim Shipenko, 38, joined cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov, 49, on a Soyuz MS-19 spaceship, which took off from Russia’s Baikonur Cosmodrome in ex-Soviet Kazakhstan. After rounding the Earth twice, the capsule approached the ISS, where Shkaplerov took over the vehicle’s controls to manually dock the spaceship. Peresild and Shipenko will reside on the station for 12 days, during which they will film scenes for an upcoming movie titled The Challenge. The film’s plot centers on a Russian doctor, depicted by Peresild, who is sent to space in order to treat a sick cosmonaut. Shkaplerov will live on the station...
After a three-year absence, Mitski is back. She just dropped her newest single “Working for the Knife,” and it’s as strong as you’d expect. [embedded content] “It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job,” Mitski said of the song in a statement. “And feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind. It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it.” Dressed as a classy, leather cowgirl, the synth laden track echoes throughout the empty halls Mitski dances between. Stripped down to a nod to the cover of Blink 182’s Enema of the State—bearing long blue latex gloves, red lace bra, and bright blue eye shadow—an empty audience applauds as she freely jumps, sways, and bobs on stage. Huffing and puffi...
Between massive creative highs and cold hard realities, it’s hard to believe Al Jourgensen hasn’t jumped out of his densely inked and pierced skin. In his 40th year as chairman of industrial-rock progenitors Ministry, “Uncle Al” is probing both sides of his yin-yang harder than ever. The light: Ministry’s politically bracing and sonically engaging new album, Moral Hygiene, was recorded under strict pandemic protocols in Jourgensen’s home studio in Southern California. These sessions also yielded material that could herald the return of Lard, his summit meeting with punk provocateur Jello Biafra, as well as the majority of a follow-up LP which the frontman describes pretense-and-irony-free as “the best music I have ever made in my life.” The dark? The tour celebrating the 30th anniversary o...
