Celebrate the History of Swedish Dance Music in Weeklong Tomorrowland Radio Program
Avicii, Eric Prydz, Robyn, Swedish House Mafia, Alesso… the list goes on. The mythos of today’s rave scene runs through Swedish dance music. Those artists and countless others played a pivotal role in the stateside EDM boom of the 2010s, and we have their generational music to thank for it. This week, Tomorrowland‘s One World Radio will examine the impact of Swedish electronic music through the lens of its influential artists. The programming slate includes an hourlong episode celebrating the impact of Swedish House Mafia, an anecdotal broadcast hosted by Laidback Luke, and a can’t-miss “Friendship Mix” curated by Alesso. Smash Mouth’s Steve Harwell Takes Hiatus from Band Due to Heart Issues
Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell has taken a temporary hiatus from the band to manage his ongoing heart condition. TMZ reports that Harwell, 54, suffers from cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease where the heart muscle becomes enlarged and weak, making it difficult to pump blood. Since 2015, Harwell has managed the disease with medication, but “recently some issues came up and things needed to be adjusted,” TMZ notes. The Districts Announce New Album Great American Painting, Share Single: Stream
Nearly a year and a half after releasing their last full-length, The Districts are back with another new album in tow. The Philadelphia indie rockers just announced their next record is called Great American Painting and it’s set to come on February 4th via Fat Possum. The band also shared the lead single “I Want to Feel It All,” and announced a massive 2021-2022 tour. Recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, Great American Painting is the fifth full-length by The Districts and follows their 2020 album You Know I’m Not Going Anywhere.
