Billie Eilish is a headliner. As one of the biggest music artists in the world, when she speaks, she is heard. That typically happens on some of the biggest stages possible, too, and she took full advantage of her platform during her Austin City Limits Music Festival set over the weekend. In front of large projections that read “Bans Off Our Bodies,” Eilish condemned the recently passed law in Texas that makes abortion “functionally illegal,” as The New York Times wrote. “When they made that shit a law, I almost didn’t want to do this show,” Eilish said during her set, as captured by fan videos, “because I wanted to punish this fucking place for allowing that to happen here. But then I remembered that it’s you guys that are th...
The groundbreaking Nirvana record Nevermind celebrated its 30th birthday last month. Along with the buzz from commemorating the record, other news surrounding the notorious naked baby cover continued to arise. In August, Spencer Elden, a.k.a. the naked baby, sued Nirvana’s surviving members, Kurt Cobain’s estate, album-cover photographer Kirk Weddle, and the labels involved in the album’s release, alleging sexual exploitation and that the cover is child pornography. Dave Grohl recently discussed that Nevermind reissues could possibly bear new art, in light of the lawsuit. “I have many ideas of how we should alter that cover, but we’ll see what happens,” Grohl told The Times Magazine. “We’ll let you know. I’m sure we’ll come up with something good … I think that there’s much more to look fo...

Ratajkowski, 30, continues, “(The director, Diane Martel’s) voice cracked as she yelled out to me, ‘Are you okay?'” According to the excerpt, Martel confirmed Ratajkowski’s version of events, saying, “I remember the moment that he grabbed her breasts. One in each hand. He was standing behind her as they were both in profile. I screamed in my very aggressive Brooklyn voice, ‘What the f–k are you doing, that’s it!! The shoot is over!!’” Martel said that Thicke “sheepishly” apologized for his alleged actions and that she didn’t believe he would have done it if he’d “been sober.” The song and the video were both heavily criticized at the time for what detractors said was its blatantly misogynistic, sexist tone and objectification...

An hour before their set at Ohana Fest, The Regrettes are upbeat and ready to go on a dreary Friday afternoon. Meeting me in a nondescript area far from view, we exchange pleasantries and sit down at a somewhat quiet area on a park bench. “It kind of feels surreal that it’s actually happening now,” singer Lydia Night says. Little does she know that something surreal is about to happen literally 20 seconds later. I get a tap on the shoulder from the band’s tour manager that it’s time to wrap. Confused, we all look at each other before we hear a blaring announcement about thunder and lightning in the area. We shrug and go our separate ways. Once the fest was given the green light, we decide it would be best to wait until after Lydia Night and her bandmates perform. It’s a wise decision. In t...
