Summer Walker has confirmed that her sophomore studio album is scheduled to release this November. The LVRN artist took to social media to make the announcement, filming a video in the parking lot outside of the BET Hip Hop Awards. “They wouldn’t let me in due to COVID restrictions. I had such a pretty dress and everything, but it’s fine,” she said. “BET love me, I still love BET. I was gonna talk about some stuff on the red carpet, so I decided to pull up anyway and let you guys know some things,” Walker continued as the camera panned to a building where the words “summer walker album #2 coming november” were projected in bright pink. “It’s all love BET,” she reiterated on Twitter, continuing, “More Details on my new album will be revealed on the Anniversary of “Over it”!!” Walk...
In a short statement on Sunday, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down announced they are no more. “After over a decade of making music together, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down is dissolving,” the group wrote in a statement that was posted on social media. “Thank you to all who have recorded and performed with us. Thao and Adam are each moving on to pursue other projects.” Founded by Thao Nguyen in 2003, Adam Thompson (the Adam in the statement) had been the only regular member of the alt folk band. Later this month, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down are releasing a deluxe edition of Temple, their fifth (and final) studio album, that was released last year. Nguyen co-produced the album with Thompson. Thao had recently opened for Julien Baker on her recent tour. Earlier this year, we spoke wi...

“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at the billionaire space race in a new sketch that aired this weekend, with Owen Wilson playing Jeff Bezos aboard his Blue Origin spacecraft. The sketch, titled “Billionaire Star Trek,” follows Bezos and his crew that flew in the company’s real-life inaugural space launch in July. The sketch is jokingly said to be part of the “Star Trek” franchise with a new series titled “Stark Trek: Ego Quest.” “Space is freaking awesome,” Wilson says, wearing the Amazon founder’s signature cowboy hat. A voiceover then gives more detail on the billionaire’s “crew of random weirdos,” which include Bezos’ brother, a “rich kid from the Netherlands” and “82-year-old astronaut Wally Funk.” Fellow billionaire Richard Branson, played by “SNL” cast member Alex Moffat, then floats ...
“Squid Game” director Hwang Dong-hyuk said that it took him almost a decade to pitch and create the K-drama series due to its “bizarre” concept. The survival series, which aired on Netflix on September 17, follows a group of 456 people heavily in debt who play life or death games in the hopes of winning a massive cash prize. In an interview with The Korea Times published last week, the filmmaker shared the struggles of creating series, which he said field like a “roller coaster ride.” He told the outlet that he actually came up with the concept in 2008 and wrote the script a year later, though it took over a decade for the show to finally air because of its “bizarre” plot. “Making the story into the series was still an adventure, just as it was about a decade ago. I knew that it...
Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth WVH have been playing support for Guns N’ Roses since their tour launched in late July. Last night, GNR brought out Wolfgang to perform their set closer “Paradise City” during a show at Hard Rock Live Arena in Hollywood, Florida. “Wolfgang Van Halen. You know how cool that is to say that? That’s fuckin’ cool. You don’t understand — we’re talking legacy!” Axl Rose exclaimed, referring to Wolfgang’s legendary dad, the late great Eddie Van Halen. Wolfgang took on guitar duty while also singing backup with Slash and Duff McKagan. GNR shared images from the performance on Twitter, writing: “Paradise City with @WolfVanHalen. Thanks for a great Fn night!” Wolfgang shared posts from the show too, using captions like “Yeah, this actually happened” and “What a...
This past summer felt like a tumultuous one for Saturday Night Live, despite (or possibly because of) its usual between-season silence about major changes to the show—broken, as per tradition, shortly before the start of a new season. Season 46 ended with what felt like possible sendoffs for several long-tenured members of a record-sized cast—and then word flew around over the summer that SNL impresario Lorne Michaels was trying to convince some veteran players to stick around for not just the next season, but several more after that, dangling a more flexible work schedule in front of familiar faces like Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant, and Cecily Strong. The Michaels Plan seems to have been put into motion with Season 47: McKinnon, Bryant, and Strong are all back, at least according to the ope...

During an appearance on the “Talking Shred” podcast, former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 reflected on the passing of legendary VAN HALEN axeman Eddie Van Halen almost exactly a year ago. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Me, just like millions of others, he was my favorite. It’s strange — I’m so upset too, because it’s, like, ‘God, couldn’t we do anything to save him?’ “Eddie was so special,” John 5 continued. “It’s really rare to have someone so special. Now, everybody listening to this and watching this can totally agree with me — I mean, the best guitar player, such an amazing inventor, such an amazing songwriter. And he had everything. And he was something special; he wa...
In an October 1 interview with Headbangers News, K.K. Downing spoke about the differences between his songwriting approach in KK’S PRIEST and the way he used to collaborate with Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton in JUDAS PRIEST. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Now I prefer — I actually prefer to be able to, if I think it’s good, then it goes on the record. If I think it’s bad, it doesn’t go on the record. I prefer to ask myself, not have a consideration from other people. “I’m very proud of everything I did as a writing team with Glenn and Rob — extremely proud of it — but I like this, if I’m honest. I prefer it this way, because I just feel as though I’m the loyal metal PRIEST,” he explained. “I’m a hundred ...

During an appearance on the latest episode of “The Chad Prather Show”, which airs through conservative media group Blaze Media, ALL THAT REMAINS singer Phil Labonte was asked for his opinion on the state of the world at the moment. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “There’s an attempt for an authoritarian takeover of the United States government in a way that is unprecedented in American history. And the worst part is the people that do want to fight it, they have to deal with — essentially, it’s just the most slanderous attacks. If you say ‘I’m for this’, someone will always say, ‘Oh, you just want to do this hurtful thing to this person or these people,’ or whatever.” Labonte, who has previously described ...
