After joining Def Jam Recordings as an executive creative and strategic consultant in June, Snoop Dogg on Monday announced plans for his 19th studio album and the release of a Def Jam kids’ record during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Snoop confirmed that his upcoming album, titled Algorithm, will arrive in November and feature “a lot of big-name acts and some new ones.” The project comes after April’s From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites and will mark the first time that the rapper has put out two studio albums in the same year. Snoop then delved into his executive role at Def Jam and announced that the label has “a kids’ album coming out this year, too.” “I was a fan of Def Jam Records as a kid,” he said. “And knowing the talent that they have over there and ...
Activision Blizzard and the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) have agreed to a lawsuit settlement worth $18 million USD. According to reports, the gaming company will start an $18 million USD fund to pay compensation for employees, put a stop to its discriminatory practices, contract a consultant to “ensure compliance,” improve training and the process of its performance review to avoid any future offenses and, finally, comply with future audits from the EEOC. “We will continue to be vigilant in our commitment to the elimination of harassment and discrimination in the workplace. We thank the EEOC for its constructive engagement as we work to fulfill our commitments to eradicate inappropriate conduct in the workplace,” Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said in a statement...

After moving 300,000 in its first week, Ropin’ the Wind has sold 9.6 million to date. Remarkably, Brooks, then 29, achieved these feats without the benefit of pop crossover airplay. Rather, it was his electric live concerts and a string of modern country classics from his first two albums, Garth Brooks and No Fences, that helped rocket his third album to a No. 1 launch and propel country radio to new ratings highs in the early ’90s. Ropin’ the Wind, which yielded five Hot Country Songs top 10 singles, including the No. 1s “Shameless” (written by Billy Joel), “What She’s Doing Now” and “The River,” became the first of nine No. 1 albums that Brooks has landed on the Billboard 200. With 73.2 million albums sold in the U.S. since 1991...

The video finds the two back in high school crushing on the same girl. Nashir, “Just Try” “It can’t hurt to try,” and Nashir asserts that beautifully on his mellow new single, “Just Try.” The New Jersey artist is one of a handful of promising young artists under Crxssroads Music/Management. Pearl Jam closed out Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Festival on Sunday with some help from Brandi Carlile, who joined the band for a performance of “Better Man.” Before the singer-songwriter took the stage, Vedder joked to the crowd, “Don’t cancel me for saying ‘bitches’ in the nicest way possible,” giving a shout-out to Carlile and all the other female artists who had performed over the last three days. “And Brandi would know about power bitches because it takes one to know one,” he declared to the crowd’s cheers as she strode to the mic. Launching into the track from 1994’s Vitalogy, Carlile sang, “Waitin’, watchin’ the clock/ It’s four o’clock, it’s got to stop/ Tell him, ‘Take no more”‘/ She practices her speech/ As he opens the door, she rolls over/ Pretends to sleep as he looks her over” ...

Bennett is currently a series regular on the stop-motion Marvel series M.O.D.O.K., and he said goodbye in an emotional Instagram post. “Love you, SNL,” he wrote. “Gonna miss you so much. Thank you for 8 years&nbs...
