Round Hill Acquires The O’Jays’ Recorded Catalog

Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Ltd. has acquired the recorded catalog of classic R&B group The O’Jays, it was announced today. The purchase encompasses 100% of the master royalty income from 532 total recordings, including such hits as “Love Train,” “Forever Mine” and “For the Love of Money.” Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. According to catalog royalty statements from calendar years 2018-2020, 64% of the revenue generated by the group’s catalog is derived from streaming, followed by 17% sync, 10% downloads, 6% other and 3% physical. Eighty-eight percent of that revenue is generated in the U.S. The top songs ranked by revenue are “Love Train,” “Forever Mine,” “For The Love of Money,” “Back Stabbers,” “Use Ta Be My Girl,” “Cry Together,” “Stairway To Heaven”...

Netflix Officially Unveils List of Its Most Popular TV Shows and Movies

Netflix has shared data confirming its most popular TV shows and movies for the first time ever. According to reports, the streaming service’s co-CEO and chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, took the stage during Vox Media’s Code Conference to reveal the list. He unveiled two slides with rankings — both recorded during the title’s first 28 days — based on either the number of accounts that clicked and streamed the title for a minimum of two minutes, or the total amount of time it was streamed. Sarandos confirmed that the first season of Bridgerton took the No. 1 spot for most popular TV series on both rankings. Squid Game was the first Korean drama to hit No.1 on Netflix and did it in just four days after its release. According to Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Co-CEO and Head of Content, “Squid Game will definitely be our biggest non-English language show in the world, for sure,” and has “a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever.” Netflix typically measures the popularity of its shows based on how many people watch a title for at least two minutes in the first 28 days following its debut. Interpol Have Officially Begun Working on Their Seventh Album

Interpol have officially started recording a new album in London. The LP, their seventh, will serve as a follow-up to 2018’s Marauder and 2019 EP A Fine Mess, and will be produced by duo Flood & Moulder. While more information on the in-the-works project is slim — there’s no title or release date as of yet — the LP is expected to arrive sometime in 2022 via Matador Records. “We are overjoyed to announce Flood & Moulder will be producing and mixing the next Interpol record,” lead guitarist Daniel Kessler said in a statement. “We are longtime admirers of their work and delighted to be in the studio with them.
