Paul Thomas Anderson has kept details of his latest film under wraps, only revealing that it was 1970s-era coming-of-age film and would feature Alana Haim (of HAIM fame), Cooper Hoffman (the son of late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman), and Bradley Cooper. Now, the acclaimed director has finally revealed the film’s title — Licorice Pizza — as well as the first trailer. Based on the two-and-a-half minute teaser, Haim and Hoffman are clearly the lead players in the film. The plot seems to revolve around Hoffman’s character, a high school student and aspiring actor, and his relationship with Haim. It’s all set in San Fernando Valley during the 1970s, which immediately calls to mind Anderson’s classic film Boogie Nights. Appropriately, the trailer for Licorice Pizza — which takes its name from a ...
GUNS N’ ROSES played its new song “Hard Skool” live for the first time during last night’s (Sunday, September 26) concert at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. “This is something about lower education,” frontman Axl Rose told the audience before launching into the track. Written by Rose and co-produced by Rose and Caram Costanzo, the track “Hard Skool”, which had the working title “Jackie Chan”, was originally recorded during GN’R‘s “Chinese Democracy” era but was eventually omitted from that album. Short clips of the song were later posted online and a full version was leaked in August 2019. More recently, the partially reunited classic ...
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett joined JUDAS PRIEST on stage last night (Sunday, September 26) at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky to perform “The Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown)”, a song written by Peter Green and recorded by FLEETWOOD MAC. For the performance, Kirk used his Gibson 1959 Les Paul Standard that once belonged to the immortal genius of both Green and Gary Moore — affectionately known and celebrated worldwide as “Greeny.” Fan-filmed video footage of Kirk‘s appearance can be seen below. Also available is a backstage photo courtesy of PRIEST‘s guitar tech Robb Philpotts. Back in May 2013, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford joined METALLICA on stage at the fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods award show at Club Noki...
At its recent Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event, the streaming platform revealed an array of previews include the intro for its live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Accompanied by the show’s classic “Tank!” opening theme, the intro is inspired by original anime series. Already staying true to the costumes and set design from Shinichiro Watanabe’s 1998 anime source material, the intro is a faithful recreation that captures the rhythm of the music from original main composer Yoko Kanno. Starring John Cho as Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine, and Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop was initially met with mixed feelings but with the latest previews, fans of the series have begun to change their thoughts about Netflix’s take on the beloved a...
Walt Disney Company is filing a series of blockbuster suits to keep full control of the Marvel characters including, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor and others. The New York Time has reported that the lawsuits are looking to invalidate copyright termination notices that have been served by these characters’ illustrators. Should Marvel lose the lawsuit, Disney would be forced to share ownership of these billion-dollar characters. The dispute first came into light when Marc Toberoff, a well-known intellectual property lawyer served Disney and Marvel Entertainment copyright terminations on behalf of five of his clients. Amongst those are Lawrence D. Lieber and his older brother, Stan Lee. Other clients including Steve Ditok and Don Heck are also looking to reclai...

Upon Cotten’s death due to Crohn’s disease in 2019, what was thought to be around $250 million USD worth of digital currency was rendered inaccessible. His wife Jennifer Robertson reported that the only person who knew the password for QuadrigaCX’s offline crypto accounts was Cotten. The over 100,000 clients who entrusted Cotten with their money were left empty-handed. Upon Quadriga’s bankruptcy, Ernst and Young were only able t...

Throughout the first weekend at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Festival, a number of artists dropped in on each other’s sets (not just year, but over the course of the festival’s history). Day three was no different. Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready popped in to close Brandi Carlile’s set with a cover of Soundgarden’s “Searching With My Good Eye Closed,” a song she released for Record Store Day in 2020 with the surviving members of that band. Later in the night during Pearl Jam’s set, Vedder invited Carlile to come out and sing with them during their weekend closing set. Prior to playing “Better Man” with Carlile, Vedder joked with the crowd about a line that Carlile told him earlier about the women on the bill (including Yola and Sharon Van Etten) and that he was allowed permission to share it. He added t...

Here are noteworthy facts and feats associated with this year’s Tony Awards. Moulin Rouge! the Musical is just the sixth show in Tony history to win 10 or more awards in one night. The Producers (2001) is the all-time champ with 12 wins, followed by Hamilton (2016) with 11 and Hello, Dolly! (1964), Billy Elliot: The Musical (2009), The Band’s Visit (2018) and Moulin Rouge! the Musical with 10 wins each. Moulin Rouge! The Musical did even better at the Tonys than Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 film Moulin Rouge! did at the Oscars. (It helps that musicals and dramas have separate categories at the Tonys, whereas they must compete with each other at the Oscars.) The film received eight nominations, including best picture and best actress for Nicole Kidman, but won in just two categories...
