Bartees Strange Unveils ‘Weights’ From Live Forever Deluxe Edition

One of the brightest revelations of 2020 was Bartees Strange. In a year full of misery, Strange’s debut album, Live Forever, was one of our favorites and landed on our best albums and best songs list. Thus, it makes sense that a year after the album’s release, Strange has more in store. The singer-songwriter shared a new song, “Weights,” from an upcoming deluxe edition of Live Forever that’s out on October 1. The song was recorded earlier this year with Will Yip producing. “This is about the ones that got away,” Strange said of the song in a statement. “Going back and forth in my head about relationships that could have happened, missing that it didn’t, and finally realizing I gotta let the weight of it all go.” Listen to “Weights” below. Strange will be performing at Govern...

Previously, Radiohead shared an unreleased studio version of “Follow Me Around.” The video for “If You Say the Word” is directed by Kasper Häggström. Check it out below. They actually were captured, as some escaped and ran around forests and grass fields, and are dumped into the city streets and are given a briefcase to go off and work in a business office. Nirvana’s Nevermind Is Being Reissued for Its 30th Anniversary

Nirvana’s classic sophomore album turns 30 tomorrow (stay tuned to the site tomorrow to see what’s to come on that front). Nevermind’s legacy is pretty damn safe at this point, that much we know. But, there’s even more to be unearthed from the band’s archive than what the 20th anniversary set revealed. Nevermind will be getting another massive reissue featuring a ton of goodies, including 70 previously unreleased tunes culled from four classic live shows. Those shows include Live in Amsterdam, Netherlands (recorded and filmed on November 25, 1991 at Club Paradiso), the much-bootlegged Live in Del Mar, California (recorded on December 28, 1991 at the Pat O’Brien Pavilion at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which was part of the iconic tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam that we ...

The Rolling Stones on Loss of Charlie Watts: “He Held the Band Together for So Long”

One month after the death of longtime drummer Charlie Watts, the remaining members of The Rolling Stones have opened up about their tremendous loss. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood shared their memories of Watts and described his impact on the band. “He held the band together for so long, musically, because he was the rock the rest of it was built around,” Jagger explained. “The thing he brought was this beautiful sense of swing and swerve that most bands wish they could have. We had some really nice conversations in the last couple of years about how all this happened with the band. It’s a huge loss to us all. It’s very, very hard.” The lead singer also broke down how Watts brought his eclectic musical background to the Stones. “He wasn’...

Weezer’s Pinkerton at 25: The Band Has Moved On, Though We Never May Do the Same

Weezer isn’t giving interviews about Pinkerton for its 25th anniversary. There’s no big press push promoting a deluxe vinyl reissue of the album celebrating its quarter-century of existence. (As of press time, you can’t even buy Pinkerton from the band’s merch store, though it is readily available elsewhere.) This relative silence about an auspicious milestone (which will officially occur on September 24th) for one of their best-loved and most influential records might seem a little odd. But maybe Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, whose intensely personal songwriting drives this 10-song, 34-minute record, doesn’t feel like there’s any advantage to speaking further on the subject. Clearly, the band has moved on; though they took a five-year break after Pinkerton that was, at the time, commonly ...

My Morning Jacket Perform “Regularly Scheduled Programming” on Kimmel: Watch

My Morning Jacket returned to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night to perform their latest single “Regularly Scheduled Programming.” Watch the musical number below. For the in-studio performance, which was part of the talk-show’s ongoing Mercedes-Benz Concert Series, the band was lit by a background of psychedelic colors that morphed into a forest of trees as the song progressed. “Diamonds are growing in the garden/ Raindrops are filling up the sea/ Excuse me, you know I beg your pardon/ For this interruption/ Now back to regularly scheduled programming,” Jim James intoned over a pulsing beat before dashing off the last line of the opening verse. Bruce Springsteen to Release 1979 No Nukes Concerts Film and Live Album

Just in time for Bruce Springsteen’s 72nd birthday today, Sony Music and Sony Pictures have announced a new concert film and live album to memorialize two of The E-Street Band’s most iconic gigs. The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts is composed of ten never-before released performances from the Boss’ 1979 Madison Square Garden MUSE benefit concerts, putting together footage of the unforgettable setlist in its entirety for the first time. “A few years ago, I started re-examining the filmed archives for Bruce and the Band’s appearances at the No Nukes concerts of 1979,” said longtime Springsteen collaborator Thom Zimny, who edited the film. “I quickly realized that these were the best performances and best filming from the Band’s legendary Seventies, and dedicated myself to bringing out the ...

GUNS N’ ROSES To Release New Single ‘Hard Skool’ This Friday

According to Spotify, a new GUNS N’ ROSES song called “Hard Skool” will be released on Friday, September 24. The track, which had the working title “Jackie Chan”, was originally recorded during GN’R‘s “Chinese Democracy” era but was eventually omitted from that album. Short clips of the song were later posted online and a full version was leaked in August 2019. More recently, the partially reunited classic lineup of GUNS N’ ROSES rehearsed the track during soundcheck at several concerts on the band’s summer 2021 tour but has yet to perform it live. Rumors of the new song’s imminent release began to circulate earlier in the month after a fan was reportedly told about it by frontman Axl Rose when they met backstage at a ...
