Disney CEO Bob Chapek Defends Studio Amidst Scarlett Johansson Lawsuit
In light of the ongoing lawsuit with Scarlett Johansson, Disney‘s head honcho Bob Chapek is officially speaking out in defense of the studio. Recently, the Black Widow star sued Disney for breaching her contract with the film’s day-and-date release strategy. The Marvel actor claimed that she would have had better box office ratings if the film was exclusively released in cinemas. Suniel Fox and Henry Strange are suing The Weeknd, Nicolas Jaar and Frank Dukes over the trio’s 2018 cut, “Call Out My Name.” The two are reportedly alleging that the My Dear Melancholy track “contain[s] quantitatively and qualitatively similar material in their respective lead guitar and vocal hooks, including melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic elements distinctive to ‘Vibeking,’” adding, “Both works are in a minor key. Both works are in a 6/8 meter that is less common in popular music. Both works are played at a similar tempo. Foals Announce Departure of Keyboardist Edwin Congreave
After over 15 years with Foals, keyboardist Edwin Congreave has announced that he’s moving on to, er, more educated pastures. The founding member says he’s departing the Oxford indie rock band to pursue a postgraduate degree in economics at Cambridge University. “We’re sad to say that we played our final show with Edwin Congreave as a member of Foals at All Points East festival in London,” wrote the remaining band members in a statement on social media. “It was a helluva way to go out.” Foals’ lineup now consists of Yannis Philippakis, Jack Bevan, and Jimmy Smith as a trio, following bassist Walter Gervers’ departure in 2018.
