If you blinked during Porter Robinson‘s captivating Second Sky festival set over the weekend, you may have just missed the electronic music artist taking a tongue-in-cheek shot at one of Worlds’ biggest critics. Years later, music reviewer Anthony Fantano, theneedledrop on YouTube, is still taking some flak from fans for scoring Robinson’s debut album a contentious 5/10 back in 2014. In that fateful review, Fantano said he wasn’t a fan of Robinon’s stylistic reset at the time, indicating he much preferred the direction of his more EDM-centric prior EP, Spitfire. Fantano has seemingly come around to Robinson’s musical stylings in more recent times, even awarding Nurture an 8/10 earlier this year. However, that didn’t stop Robinson from digging ...

Baby Keem has updated his debut album The Melodic Blue with a feature from Brent Faiyaz and two additional tracks. Two of the songs that arrived on disc two of the “deluxe” version of the EP, “no sense” and “hooligan,” had already been released prior, but the appearance of Faiyaz on a remix of the single “lost souls” is new material from the duo. The remix hears the Maryland-born R&B singer enter about halfway through the song, interjecting Keem’s punchy rap with his own vibe-heavy vocals, lamenting “sixteen missed calls.” “Sorry I was busy but I missed ya,” Faiyaz sings. The original version of “lost souls” sustains the same beat in the background throughout most of the song before fading in its final minute as Keem’s bars become more contemplative. While the remix maintains this beat...
Brian Fallon released the first single, “The Virgin Mary Had One Son,” off the album he also announced today, Night Divine, out on November 5. The Gaslight Anthem frontman covers the legendary spiritual, “The Virgin Mary Had One Son.” Combining a rippling guitar effect, his raspy, soothing voice, Fallon renders a beautifully modern, alternative twist to the Christian tune. Famously sung by the Staple Singers, Fallon respectfully and originally performs the song. Listen to the track below: “I heard Odetta sing an incredible live version of ‘Virgin Mary Had One Son,’ and it was actually one of the performances that inspired me to learn the piano,” Fallon said. “Joan Baez sang it back in the sixties too. From those two versions, I put down my own structure with the acoustic guitar and the voc...
