Tom Morello and Bring Me The Horizon Join Forces on ‘Let’s Get The Party Started’

Tom Morello dropped a third single “Let’s Get The Party Started” featuring Bring Me the Horizon off his upcoming record. “Alright, you motherfuckers,” is how Morello starts the party. The video shows huge mobs on the streets and in concerts, and sings of how he releases his inner demons by partying his heart out, “Feeling fifty shades of fucked up / Going out of my mind / I don’t wanna face my demons / So let’s get the party started.” “Bring Me The Horizon is really the current standard-bearer of hard rock/metal today, and thank God for them for that,” Morello said. “I had a couple of huge riffs and we just started mashing it up with Zakk Cervini, who has worked with them before.” Check out the clip below. Laura Jane Grace Surprise Released Her New EP Because Nothing Is Normal Anymore Anyway

Laura Jane Grace released a new EP today, but you wouldn’t know it if you weren’t paying attention. At a point in time where society, punk rock, and everything in between is more online than ever before, Grace stealth-dropped At War With The Silverfish (via Polyvinyl Records) like her fellow cultural icon, Beyoncé, did for her 2013 self-titled album. On one hand, it takes a certain amount of courage and understanding of your fan base to release a new project without any kind of prior promotion or announcement (beyond the occasional cryptic tweet). On the other, it’s not like anyone really has a “How to Release an Album During a Global Pandemic” playbook drafted up yet, so why not just go with it? “These are certainly unprecedented times that we’re living in, so the normal way of putting ou...

alt-J have announced their new album, The Dream, out February 11th via Canvasback/Infection Music. As a preview, they unveiled “U&ME,” which marks the British outfit’s first new material in four years. They’ve also mapped out an extensive North American tour. The Dream was created in the year following the band’s 2017-2018 world tour in support of their last full-length, RELAXER. According to a press release, the lyrics are partially inspired by “true-crime-inspired stories and tales of Hollywood and the Chateau Marmont.” Pre-orders are ongoing. The album’s lead single, “U&ME,” was written during various soundchecks around the globe, and then recorded with longtime producer Charlie Andrew. The track’s sound and lyrics evoke the best parts of summer as Joe Newman sings, “Summer holi...

Tom Morello Unveils New Song “Let’s Get the Party Started” featuring Bring Me the Horizon: Stream

Tom Morello is offering up the next taste of his upcoming album, The Atlas Underground Fire, with the scorching new single “Let’s Get the Party Started.” The song is a collaboration with UK rock act Bring Me the Horizon. “Let’s Get the Party Started,” not to be confused with pop singer Pink’s “Let’s Get This Party Started,” is the second single released from Morello’s forthcoming LP, which arrives on October 15th. The Rage Against the Machine guitarist previously unveiled a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” featuring Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen. In a press release, Morello mentioned how he co-wrote the song with BMTH singer Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish while all three were on separate continents. “Bring Me the Horizon is really the current standard bearer of hard rock/meta...

The Wire Creator Pulls Production on New Series from Texas Over Abortion Ban

David Simon, the creator of The Wire, is moving production on his upcoming HBO series out of Texas due to the state’s restrictive new abortion ban. “If an employer, this is beyond politics. I’m turning in scripts next month on an HBO non-fiction miniseries based on events in Texas, but I can’t and won’t ask female cast/crew to forgo civil liberties to film there,” Simon tweeted regarding his decision before asking, “What else looks like Dallas/Ft. Worth?” Some followers bristled at the writer’s stance, with one asking, “Were you expecting the entire female crew to need an abortion while there? This is so condescending to women and you don’t even realize it,” to which he responded, “No…I don’t anticipate anything other than that if even one of our employees requires full control of her own ...

Baby Keem Moves Into The Spotlight With The Melodic Blue

On his breakout mixtape, 2019’s Die for My Bitch, rapper-producer Baby Keem chants “I am 50 Cent” over and over in an almost-monotone fashion, bringing in the disorienting beat-switch on “MOSHPIT.” Though he claims to have been “just randomly saying it,” in a Complex interview after the mixtape’s release, his references and similarities to the G-Unit founder don’t end there. The music video for “Gang Activities,” off of 2018’s The Sound of Bad Habit, pays homage to the “In Da Club” video, featuring shots of Keem hanging upside down from a telephone pole. On his latest release, The Melodic Blue, Keem samples Che Ecru’s “Fuck Instagram,” targeting a phrase where the Boston artist slips into a slurred, snappy melody reminiscent of Curtis Jackson’s choruses on tracks like “P.I.M.P.” or “Like M...

‘NBA 2K22’ Review: The Best ‘NBA 2K’ Title in Years

For many kids taking the court for the first time, a keen piece of advice one might hear is, “slow the game down in your head.” Oftentimes, it sounds implausible and, frankly, unhelpful in the moment. However, when you apply the notion of taking your time and thinking ahead, it unravels new abilities that have never been tapped into, and you may even be able to envision things before they happen. That’s exactly how it is to play NBA 2K22 when you’re locked in. The initial redeeming quality encountered when loading up NBA 2K, getting from the teams selection screen through the gameplay presentations, is how smooth the cut scenes and transitions move. This seamlessness remains throughout. To christen the all-new NBA 2K22, HYPEBEAST received an early copy of the game. First up: a matchup...

BLACKPINK’s Lisa Reflects on Her Solo Project ‘Lalisa’: ‘It’s Time for Me to Shine’

Lisa is the third member of BLACKPINK to release a solo project. Jennie paved the way, releasing her aptly titled tune “Solo” in 2018. She was followed by Rosé, who dropped her single album, -R-, in March this year. Jisoo will be the final one to release solo music. In the interview, Lisa also gave a detailed account on what it was like to meet her fellow BLACKPINK members  during their training days at YG Entertainment. “I met Jennie first, and after that I met Jisoo and Rosie. I remember Jennie — she was the only one to say ‘hi’ to me in English because other people can’t talk in English, so we were super close,” Lisa shared. “Jisoo unnie … I remember when I first saw her, she wore a red hoodie … seriously, ...

R. Kelly Says He Won’t Testify at His Sex Trafficking Trial

The short defense case has relied on a handful of former Kelly employees and other associates who agreed to take the stand to try to discredit allegations that he sexually abused women, girls and boys during a 30-year musical career highlighted by the 1996 smash hit “I Believe I Can Fly.” Most of the defense witnesses said they never saw Kelly abuse anyone. One went as far to say Kelly was “chivalrous” to his girlfriends. Another admitted he owed Kelly for his break in music business and wanted to see him beat the case. By contrast, prosecutors have called dozens witnesses since the trial began in federal court in Brooklyn on Aug. 18. They included several female and two male accusers to back up allegations that Kelly used a cadre of managers, bodyguards and assistants to systematically re...

Nick Lachey Says ‘Alter Ego’ Allows Singers’ Avatars to Come to Life: ‘Their Humanity Really Shines Through’

Mostly, though, Lachey, a veteran host and contestant on reality shows including Newlyweds, Clash of the Choirs, The Sing-Off, Dancing With the Stars and Drop the Mic, is also glad that he gets to judge this time, with 106 & Park‘s Rocsi Diaz taking over hosting duties on the series. Billboard spoke to Lachey on the eve of the show’s debut to find out what he learned sitting next to Grimes, how the avatars unlock hidden potential, and the powerful message hidden in the show’s otherworldly shell. How did you get involved in this show? Lachey: It started with The Masked Singer and playing a different role while performing while singing, which is what Alter Ego is — it’s that on steroids. I had a great experience with everyone at Fox, and the opportunity...

Rauw Alejandro Delivers a Joyous, Vibrant Set During 2021 Latin Music Week

Images of a car cruising down a palm tree-lined street, drenched in neon hues, accompanied a vibey “Algo Magico,” which had the crowd bumping, grinding and fully forgetting just how wet they were. Shouting out collaborator Farruko (who previewed new music at a different 2021 Latin Music Week event), Alejandro launched into their joint track “Fantasias” after a thumping, high-energy “Desenfocao’.” If anyone showed up hoping to tear up, Alejandro delivered with a heartfelt take on “Tattoo” from his debut. As hand-drawn hearts appeared on the screen behind him, he crooned the Camilo remix version of the sweet, sensual ode, which had the crowd singing every word of the chorus back to him. If fatigue meant that girls on shoulders had their f...
