Is This DAVID LEE ROTH’s Caricature Of DONALD TRUMP?

Since April 2020, VAN HALEN singer David Lee Roth has spent much of his time creating COVID-themed drawings — he calls them comics — and then sharing the finished works on his social media channels. His latest four pieces of artwork — called “The Don” (an apparent caricature of former president Donald Trump‘s orange appearance and signature hairdo), “The Hurricane Formally Known As Prince”, “Flood” and “Delta” — can be found below. According to a New York Times profile from the summer of 2020, Roth picked up the pen and ink during his coronavirus lockdown, but he had long been interested in art. “My approach is the best of both worlds: vintage and hyper-atomic digital,” he said. “Sort of like watching ‘Dragnet...

THE LURKING FEAR, the old-school death metal group from sweden featuring members of AT THE GATES, DISFEAR, GOD MACABRE, SKITSYSTEM, TORMENTED and THE HAUNTED, will release its sophomore album, “Death, Madness, Horror, Decay”, on November 19 via Century Media Records. Vocalist Tomas Lindberg comments: “With our second album, we really wanted to produce a more coherent listening experience. The first one was a blast to put together, and I do love that it is dynamic, but we talked a lot about it and this time around we wanted the record to have more of a unified sound, so to say…We wanted it to sound like a band with their own identity. Therefore the writing sessions were more of a unified effort this time around, and all the writers in the band are part of more songs. The a...

‘Dune’ Director Denis Villeneuve Say Marvel Films “Turned Us Into Zombies”

Dune director Denis Villeneuve has offered his own criticism on the artistic substance of Marvel films. Villeneuve is not the first director to weigh in on the debate as Martin Scorsese once compared MCU movies to theme parks. After speaking to The Direct, Villeneuve revealed that Marvel movies “have turned us into zombies a bit.” He claims that the issue “is that we are in front of too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a ‘cut and paste’ of others.” He added, “Just think of the golden age of Hollywood to see that commercial films can make a different artistic proposal and, therefore, political. I have never felt like a loss or an impediment to have a generous budget to do what I wanted to do. Upside down.” Villeneuve seems to want to debunk the myth that large budget films cann...
