POSSESSED frontman Jeff Becerra, who was shot in a robbery in 1989, leaving him partially paralyzed and wheelchair-bound, says that he was able to walk again for the first time in over 30 years with the help of robotic legs. Earlier today (Saturday, September 18), Becerra shared a video of him taking a few steps at what appears to be a physical therapy facility or a hospital, and he included the following message: I walked again! I walked again for the first time in over 30 years with the help of robotic legs #jeffbecerra #possessed #possessedband #rewalk #rewalkrobotics #smallmiracles”. POSSESSED originally split in 1987, leaving behind a short but highly influential legacy, most notably their 1985 “Seven Churches” debut, widely considered to be the first-ever death meta...
Longtime QUIET RIOT bassist Chuck Wright will release his debut solo album, “Chuck Wright’s Sheltering Sky”, in early 2022. A video trailer for the LP’s first single, a hard-rocking, intense interpretation of Björk‘s 1995 hit “Army Of Me”, is available below. The song and the accompanying clip represent Wright‘s exploration of disorder and parallels with the chaotic current state of world affairs. The visuals include a 3D animation of an “army” of Ruth Bader Ginsburgs, the late Supreme Court Justice, feminist icon and steadfast advocate for women’s rights and gender equality. Says Wright: “I chose to release the trailer today, September 18, to recognize the late Justice Ginsburg on the one-year anniversary of her passi...

This article originally appeared in the September 1992 issue of SPIN. In honor of Singles hitting theaters on this date in 1992, we’re republishing it here. Phoebe Cates fellating a carrot. Judge Reinhold beating off in the can. John Cusack lovelorn outside lone Skye’s window holding aloft a boom box blaring Peter Gabriel. Details such as these give director Cameron Crowe’s characters lifespans that linger on long past the closing credits. But Crowe’s most-celebrated contribution to the culture remains Fast Times at Ridgemont High’s stumbling, mumbling über-stoner, Jeff Spicoli, whose frazzled spirit was almost supernaturally caught by Sean Penn. The director has worked with a high caliber of acting talent ever since. Constructed as Love, American Style—type vignettes chronicling...

Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful set the internet ablaze this week after suggesting the “aliens” behind the AREA21 duo are landing in Sin City for their first-ever live performance. Posting a visual of a neon prism, Life Is Beautiful told fans “they’ve landed and this isn’t the only clue they’ve left.” The inclusion of the prism is significant given AREA21’s recurring use of the symbol in all of their recent cover art. The festival’s flyer also features a holding spot near the top for what will be a major special guest, which lends credence to the suggestion that Martin Garrix and Maejor‘s collaborative alias could be the act to fit the bill. Life Is Beautiful kicked off yesterday, September 17th, so...
