MTV’s 2021 Video Music Awards were a welcome return. A year after the show was shot remotely at locations across New York City, this year’s VMAs were conducted in person at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with Doja Cat hosting. Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Dethrones Kanye West’s ‘DONDA’ With Biggest Debut of 2021
Drake is opening this week’s Billboard 200 on top as Certified Lover Boy debuts at No. 1. According to Billboard, the record earned a total of 613,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 9. Of that number, 562,000 units are credited to streaming equivalent album units (743.67 million on-demand streams for the 21 tracks), 46,000 units are credited to album sales and 5,000 units go to track equivalent album units. CLB’s numbers are the biggest since Taylor Swift’s folklore in 2020 and also the largest week for a rap album since Scorpion. In addition, Certified Lover Boy officially holds the record for the biggest debut week of 2021 — overthrowing the short reign of Kanye West‘s DONDA, which moves down to No. 2 from last week’s top spot. This past July, WHITESNAKE announced that it had enlisted Croatian singer/multi-instrumentalist Dino Jelusick for its upcoming tour. Jelusick is a member of multi-platinum selling band TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA and was previously part of DIRTY SHIRLEY (with George Lynch), ANIMAL DRIVE and recorded with many others. Dino has been singing, touring and recording since the age of five. Other than being a frontman, his main instrument are keyboards but he also plays bass, guitar and drums.
