Kim Petras took to the stage at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show to perform her new single “Future Starts Now.” Watch it below. Flanked by a bevy of backup dancers wearing raspberry berets, opera gloves, and baby pink harnesses, the trans icon in the making lived out her full pop star fantasy belting out the house music-inspired bop in a dress and boots designed to look like sticky, melting bubblegum. “One day, everyone will notice/ The world is yours and you should know it/ So don’t let love get out of focus/ Don’t give up, the future starts now/ I know you can take the pressure/ Turn it into something better/ So take the pain and make it pleasure/ Don’t give up, the future starts now,” she sang while nailing her choreography, before revealing a second, skimpier bubblegum-inspired...
Michael Sweet of openly Christian hard rockers STRYPER took to his social media on Saturday (September 11) to pose a question for his tens of thousands of followers: “Should SKILLET & STRYPER tour together? If this post breaks records with comments and shares then I’ll take that as a yes;-) Go!” Several other prominent hard rock musicians responded to Sweet on both Instagram and Twitter, with QUEENSRŸCHE frontman Todd La Torre, who is an atheist, writing: “That would be a hard no.” FOZZY‘s Chris Jericho was more open to the idea, saying: “That would be a great tour for u guys!!!” Former SALIVA vocalist Josey Scott was equally enthusiastic, writing: “YES!!!! I grew up with SKILLET in Memphis (the singer anyway) and he’s always been a...

IRON MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith spoke to Iron Hayden of Australia’s Triple M Hard N Heavy about “The Writing On The Wall”, the first single from the band’s latest album, “Senjutsu”. According to Smith, the track “has almost got a folky/country feel to it. We haven’t done that before. That’ll surprise a few people.” After Hayden expressed his surprised at the mention of a “country” influence in relation to a MAIDEN song, Adrian said: “To me, it was more English folk. And if you look at the old English folk music, it probably came over to America hundreds of years ago, mixed up with Cajun, mixed up with blues, and then you have what you call American country music. To me, if you go right back to roots, it’...
Celebrating his contribution to “The Metallica Blacklist”, Corey Taylor sat down for a four-part conversation with Knotfest.com‘s Ryan J. Downey. In part two of the chat, the SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman talks about his love of 1980s televisions shows “Headbangers Ball” and “The Young Ones”; great riffs; and the parallels between METALLICA and SLIPKNOT. “One of the first songs I ever learned how to play on guitar was ‘Enter Sandman’,” Taylor said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “Because that was kind of our generation’s ‘Stairway To Heaven’ or ‘Smoke On The Water’. It’s one of those riffs that… I like to call if the Guitar Center virus. Anybody who comes in [at a Guitar Cen...
The MTV Video Music Awards are back, baby, airing live tonight (September 12) from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which means the red carpet — and the big fits worn by the artists and celebrities who saunter down it — is also back, baby. Plenty of major fashion was flaunted in a video booth during last year’s largely remote ceremony, but there’s nothing quite like the feeling of surprise stirred by a well-executed entrance. And stars have had two years to revamp and recharge their wardrobes since Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Taylor Swift, and more sent sartorial shockwaves waves at 2019’s show, meaning music’s biggest lights are shining brighter than ever. Kacey Musgraves David Lee Roth Doja Cat Dove Cameron Jxdn and Nessa Shawn Mendes Lil Nas X Jack Harlow Tinashe...

Let’s take a look at some of the feats that Drake achieves with the debut of Certified Lover Boy: 10th No. 1 Album: Drake is now one of only eight artists with at least 10 No. 1 albums in the 65-year history of the Billboard 200 chart. The Beatles have the most No. 1s, with 19. They are followed by Jay-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen, Barbra Streisand (11 each), Drake, Eminem, Elvis Presley and Kanye West (10 each). Drake first topped the Billboard 200 dated July 3, 2010, with Thank Me Later. Biggest Week for an Album in Over a Year: With 613,000 equivalent album units earned, Certified Lover Boy logs the largest week for any album since Swift’s Folklore launched at No. 1 on the Aug. 8, 2020-dated chart with 846,000 units. Certified also easily scores 2021’s biggest week, blowing past the previo...
Knowing her audience, Aguilera had a series of surprises in store — early on in the performance, the “Ain’t No Other Man” singer brought out Drag Race stars Aquaria, Milk, Jaida Essence Hall and Dahlia Sin for a lip-sync medley to a string of singles. Aguilera then reappeared alongside the queens, dressed in a set of stunning rhinestoned denim chaps, for a campy, drag-inspired version of her Moulin Rouge hit “Lady Marmalade.” The highlight of Aguilera’s performance came right at the end, though, when the star brought the lights down and delivered a stirring performance of “Beautiful,” wherein she reminded the crowd of the important message of LadyLand. “If I could leave you with one note for the night, on this date ...
