Did you hear? The 2021 MTV VMAs are happening tonight, and if you thought the lineup of nominees, presenters, and performers was so stacked that there couldn’t possibly be room for one more, you’d be mistaken. When it comes to Busta Rhymes, there’s always room. The legendary New York rapper will make his return to the VMAs stage at tonight’s show, his latest stop in a career full of Moonperson nominations. The first of Rhymes’s 16 noms dates back all the way to 1996, when his Hype Williams-helmed visual for “Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check” earned a nod for Breakthrough Video. This year, Rhymes is in great company. As a late addition to an already impressive and star-studded performer roster, he joins the previously announced crop of artists, includ...

A new video of VAN HALEN drummer Alex Van Halen has emerged online. On Friday (September 10), the Van Halen Brasil YouTube channel uploaded a clip — purportedly shot earlier that day — of Alex driving down a Los Angeles freeway in his new Porsche 911 GT2 RS car. While pulling up alongside the vehicle occupied by the person doing the filming, Alex playfully flipped his cap sideways before proceeding down the road. Greg Renoff, author of the VAN HALEN biography “Van Halen Rising: How A Southern California Backyard Party Band Saved Heavy Metal” shared the video and wrote in an accompanying message: “This is great to see. Watch it!” If authentic, the footage marks the first time Alex has been photographed or filmed in public since the passing of his brother, legendary V...
Rudy Sarzo has has dismissed as untrue allegations of racism on the part of Sharon Osbourne. This past March, journalist Yashar Ali published a report alleging that Ozzy Osbourne‘s wife and manager referred to her former “The Talk” co-host Julie Chen as “wonton” and “slanty eyes,” citing multiple unnamed sources, including another former “The Talk” co-host Leah Remini. Sharon later called the claims “crap, all crap” in an interview with Daily Mail, saying that it was “a pile-on. People want to add fuel to the fire and it comes with the territory and that’s fine,” she said. Sarzo discussed Sharon‘s allegedly racist behavior in a new interview with Ultimate Guitar. While looking back on his 1981-1982 st...
NICKELBACK has fired back at a Texas singer over a copyright lawsuit claiming the rock band ripped off its 2005 hit song “Rockstar” from an earlier track called “Rock Star”. Kirk Johnston filed a lawsuit against NICKELBACK members Chad Kroeger, Michael Kroeger, Ryan Peake and Daniel Adair, as well as the band’s former record label Roadrunner Records and Warner Chappell Music, Inc. and Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. alleging that the NICKELBACK copied his original musical composition, “Rock Star”, which he wrote in 2001 while a member of the band SNOWBLIND REVIVAL. In August 2001, SNOWBLIND REVIVAL created a master recording of “Rock Star”, along with three other original songs. The band made 15 copies of the master recording and sent t...

KORN singer Jonathan Davis has thanked fans for their support, nearly a month after it was announced that he tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of his infection, the band postponed six dates and canceled two on its current U.S. tour. Davis, who was reportedly fully vaccinated, took to his Instagram earlier today (Saturday, September 11) to write: “I’m not really good at this. I only know how to express my emotions is thru singing. I cannot thank all the people who prayed and wished me healing enough. In my whole career I’ve never felt so much love. I just want you all to know how much I love and appreciate all of you. I’m feeling better as each day passes.” Although Davis is no longer contagious with the virus, he has been taking a seat on a custom thro...

Meeting via e-mail through a mutual friend, Dean and Tom were both huge fans of each other’s work. They began chatting on the phone, hit it off immediately and decided to make a record. The album was written and recorded entirely online during the pandemic, with the pair sending videos back and forth, building ideas. R...
SMILE EMPTY SOUL guitarist and lead singer Sean Danielsen has defended his band’s decision to cancel a few of its previously booked shows because the concert venues in question were requiring a COVID-19 vaccine for fans. A number of bars and clubs have adopted the new protocol because the owners say the music industry and the artists demand a safe environment to perform. Last month, Danielsen released a statement via social media in which he explained that he was scrapping the shows because “I stand 100% for freedom, and medical freedom is especially important to me. I believe that you should get the vaccine if you want it, but should not have to if you don’t want it.” Now, in a new interview with the “Hall Of Mears” podcast, Danielsen elaborated on SMIL...
