Tony Romera’s Debut Album “Introspection” Channels Early Influences Into Multi-Genre Joyride: Listen

After giving fans a glimpse at his debut album with a slew of singles, Tony Romera has finally unveiled his highly anticipated Introspection LP via Monstercat. Spanning 16 tracks, Romera’s Introspection is a treat for longtime fans and new listeners alike. He effortlessly flows between genres, refusing to be confined by the house music that has defined him over the course of his career. The album is a reflective look at his influences up until this point, drawing inspiration from the likes of Daft Punk, 90s hip-hop, and punk music, all of which he cherished growing up.  While the house music vet rarely strays from the genre he calls home, he comfortably does so throughout Introspection. “My Mind” (with Karina Ramage) embraces a slowed-down, upbeat...

Apple Music Leverages Shazam to ID Full DJ Mixes, Compensate Rights Holders

In a streaming service first, Apple Music has launched a robust track-identification feature capable of analyzing full DJ mixes and ensuring music rights holders are paid.  The feature was developed as an extension of Shazam’s proprietary track identification technology. Apple added Shazam to its growing portfolio of services via a highly visible $400 million acquisition back in 2018. DJ Mixes have proven to be a thorn in the side of content creators and digital platforms alike. Without an efficient methodology to break down a DJ mix into the sum of its parts, rights holders and DJ’s have historically been unable to effectively monetize them. Consequentially, many artists and labels have barred their music from appearing in DJ mixes outright, leading to the automated remov...

THE OFFSPRING Guitarist Blasts TRUMP Supporters Who Believe Presidential Election Was Rigged: ‘The Truth Doesn’t Matter To Those People’

THE OFFSPRING guitarist Kevin “Noodles” Wasserman spoke to “The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show” about the lyrical inspiration for the title track of the band’s tenth studio album, “Let The Bad Times Roll”, which came out in April. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “There’s two ways of looking at it. One is, God, there’s so much going on in this world. How do you combat it? Well, fuck it. Bring it. Let the bad times roll. That’s one way of looking at it. The other is it’s what our leaders are saying to us. ‘You think I’m bad now? You think I’m screwing with you now? Just wait. I’m gonna get worse.’ I think we saw that a lot over the last four years in this country. But I thin...

‘The Bob’s Burger’s Movie’ Set to Hit Theaters in 2022

A teaser poster and the release period for the upcoming Bob’s Burgers movie have been announced. 20th Century Studios took to social media to confirm that The Bob’s Burgers Movie will be hitting theaters during Memorial Day Weekend 2022. Showrunner Loren Bouchard told EW that they want the film — which he is also directing — to play in cinemas, but the COVID-19 pandemic is proving that move to be difficult. “We talked about [streaming] as it pertains to the movie and we decided we really want the movie to come out in theaters because Bob’s is already on TV,” he said. “Of course, we want everyone to be able to safely see it in movie theaters. We don’t want anyone to put themselves at risk. But assuming there’s a point at which everyone can go back to theaters safely, we’re excited about Bob...

Kelsey Grammer Recalls Learning That Frasier Co-Creator David Angell Died in 9/11 Attacks

2,977 people died in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11th, 2001, and Frasier co-creator David Angell was among the victims. Via Deadline, the show’s star Kelsey Grammer has recalled the moment he learned that his friend and coworker had perished, saying, “It is a day of loss that I always remember.” Frasier first met Angell when he joined Cheers as a staff writer in 1983, and the pair continued to collaborate until his death. On 9/11, Angell and his wife Lynn were traveling from Cape Cod to Los Angeles, when they boarded American Airlines flight 11 out of Boston. Fifteen minutes after takeoff, the plane was hijacked, and about 45 minutes later it collided with the World Trade Center North Tower. According to Grammer, “I was awakened by a frien...

Metallica Perform Two Songs, Read 1-Star Reviews of “The Black Album” on Kimmel: Watch

Metallica appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Friday night (September 10th) to promote the releases of The Metallica Blacklist covers compilation and the deluxe 30th anniversary box set edition of “The Black Album.” The band performed two songs, sat down with the late-night host for an interview, and participated in a funny skit in which they read 1-star Amazon reviews of the classic 1991 album. Much like Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” segment, Metallica were subjected to some scathing commentary as the band members each took turns reading the 1-star Amazon reviews. Lars Ulrich began with one that read, “The Black Album? I call it ‘The Shitty Album!’ This is by far one of the most loathsome crimes every committed against music.” James Hetfield read one that insisted, “This album sucks, sad but true! ...

The 165 Songs Banned from American Radio Following 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

Following the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, close to 200 songs were shadow banned from American radio stations by Clear Channel Communications, known today as iHeartMedia. There were little to no consequences for DJs who broke the embargo, though as The Daily Beast, Kerrang, and others have noted, it had a chilling effect on radio play for the targeted songs. Today, the list stands as a curious relic of a time where unfathomable tragedy led to one of the most sweeping censorship movements in recent history. Clear Channel announced the “suggestions” in a memorandum sent out to its over 1,100 radio stations on September 14th. Many songs were cited as “lyrically questionable,” which meant that the words could be triggering, as in James Taylor’s...
