Lucy Dacus released a video for the third single “Brando” off her newest album, Home Video. Inviting fans to send in clips of themselves dancing, skateboarding, jumping, and singing, the video is a compilation from over 100 submissions and is as nice as you’d expect. Inside the blue animated border mimicking an old-school television set, Dacus’ fans show a range of talent from ballet dancing in a river to strumming a ukulele in a forest. Lots of cats made the cut, with quick cuts to rollerbladers and even some gloved hands acting out a puppet show over a shower curtain. Check it out below. Taylor and Larry got into a heated argument at the Teen Mom OG reunion, clashing about multiple issues that had transpired throughout the previous season regarding Ryan’s relationship with Bentley as well as how the MTV grandparents spoke about Maci, Taylor and Bentley. Now, during the show’s season premiere, the McKinneys and the Edwards’ admitted that no progress had been made following the tension-filled sitdown. “It didn’t need to go that way at all,” Jen, with Larry by her side, admitted to TMOG producer Lorraine. “I never expected it to. That was kind of shocking. It’s just like a hundred steps backward for everybody.” The two had only seen Bentley at a wrestling tournament after the disagreement, but Larry was hopeful that one da...

Alicia Keys is returning to the VMAs — and this time, she’s bringing Swae Lee. The pair’s new single, “Lala,” dropped today (September 9). For the iconic singer-songwriter’s first performance on the VMAs stage since she lit it up in 2012 for “Girl on Fire” with Nicki Minaj and Olympian Gabby Douglas, Keys will debut the song alongside her collaborator “with spectacular city views in celebration of the resilience of New York,” according to a release. Keys is a longtime VMAs mainstay, having won four awards, including her very first, in 2001, for Best New Artist in a Video, which she won for debut single “Fallin.'” In 2009, Keys teamed up with Jay-Z for a show-closing duet of “Empire State of Mind.” Keys and Lee jo...
Are you ready for Normani to take you to the wild side? The R&B-pop diva is back and she’s ready to strut right onto the 2021 VMAs stage for another electrifying performance. Normani will perform at the show for the first time since dunking all over the 2019 VMAs with her debut solo single “Motivation.” That performance found her utilizing a full basketball court and dazzling in velour; and since then, the artist has continued to push boundaries in her visuals, especially thanks to the highly improbable movements in her recent “Wild Side” vid. We can’t wait to see what she’ll do when she brings the song to life in its television debut. Normani is no stranger to the VMAs. In addition to her breathtaking “Motivation” debut in 2019, sh...
Only a few things are certain in this world: death, taxes and the NFL dominating the fall (and winter). Last year’s weird season ended in the familiar fashion of Tom Brady winning the Super Bowl. Snore. This year, with fans returning to full capacity stadiums, it *should* feel like the NFL of recent memory for fans, players and coaches alike. Just like we have for the past two seasons, we’ve asked our expert panel of musicians how they think the season will unfold for their favorite teams. On top of the usual crew, we’ve added a bunch more who aren’t afraid to hit the mat in support of their favorite team. The one wrinkle that threw off a lot of those 8-8 predictions? The 17 game season. It will lead to more strange things and having an extra game to cheer or jeer will make the rest of the...
Nicki Minaj is calling on female artists to put down some vocals for a new project. It started with the rapper posting a video on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday night that didn’t show her face but heard her singing an airy series of “yeahs” and humming. When a fan reposted the video to Twitter last night, saying that it was “so calming” to them, Minaj responded with a request for Barbz, instructing them to “ask Keke, Tamar & Brandy to redo this.” Barbz: ask Keke, Tamar & Brandy to redo this. That’s what I sound like in my head. Would love to hear ppl who can rlly do it ????????? https://t.co/7BuZMv7Edw — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) September 8, 2021 The trio of artists she’s referring to are the R&B singers Keke Wyatt, Tamar Braxton and Brandy Norwood, most commonly known for t...
Looks like Bill Cosby won’t be heading out on a comedy tour any time soon. The disgraced comedian first let the ill-advised plan of some sort of post-prison stand-up comedy tour slip back in July, but according to a new report by TMZ, he’s been talked out of the idea because of yet another sexual assault lawsuit. The case in question was filed by Judy Huth, who alleges Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion back in the 1970s when was just 15 years old. Huth’s case isn’t exactly new either — it dates back to 2014, with Huth one of more than 60 women who have come forward over the years with allegations of rape, drug-induced sexual assault, sexual battery, and child sexual abuse towards the one-time icon. Sleigh Bells may have released their first album Treats over 10 years ago, but six releases later, they’re sounding as fresh and inspired as ever. With Texis, the NY-based duo’s new LP, Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller are taking bolder risks and crafting emotionally resonant music. A term they batted around while writing and recording Texis, out Friday (September 10th) was “nourishing,” which according to Miller “may not be a word that people associate with our band, but hopefully that will change when the record comes out.” Texis is an eclectic and charged collection of songs, full of grunge guitars and catchy melodies, all laid on top of frenetic drums and explosive synths. It’s both a quintessential Sleigh Bells record and a completely new look for the band — a dichotomy they seem to ...
Acclaimed music supervisor Randall Poster had a busy year. The award-winning music supervisor has worked on projects such as Pretend It’s a City and Questlove’s documentary Summer of Soul, not to mention his latest collaboration with Wes Anderson for the upcoming The French Dispatch. What’s more, he’s nominated for an Outstanding Music Supervision Emmy for his work on The Queen’s Gambit. But one of his most ardent passion projects this year is Home In This World: Woody Guthrie’s Dust Bowl Ballads, a re-interpretation of Woody Guthrie’s classic 1940 album Dust Bowl Ballads — a set of (eventually) fourteen songs set amid the economic and spiritual hardships of the Great Depression. It’s typically considered one of the very first concept albums, and tracks like “I Ain’t Got No Home In Th...
Lindsey Buckingham is still angry about his 2018 firing from Fleetwood Mac, and he’s out to hit his ex-bandmates where it hurts. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Buckingham claimed that Stevie Nicks — whose political ideologies tend to lean more liberal — ruined the band by becoming “a little bit like Trump.” This particular drama first unfolded ahead of the 50th anniversary world tour. As Buckingham explained it, “I think she wanted to shape the band in her own image, a more mellow thing, and if you look at the last tour, I think that’s true.” He added that Mick Fleetwood has been the only member of Fleetwood Mac he’s seen since his involuntary 2018 exit. “I think others in the band just felt that they were not empowered enough, individually, for whatev...
Keys first performed on the show in 2001 when she delivered her breakthrough hit “Fallin’” (with an interpolation of Beethoven’s “Für Elise”). In 2007, she performed “No One”/”Freedom.” But there will be no video vanguard award on the VMAs for the second year in a row, MTV confirmed to Billboard on Thursday (Sept. 9). This is only the third time in VMA history that the show will go two or more years without presenting that award, which has sometimes been presented as the Michael Jackson video vanguard award or as a lifetime achievement award. There was no video vanguard award in 2004 to 2005 and again from 2007 to 2010. But there was a seven-year streak from 2013 to 2019 in which the video vanguard award presentation was a highlight of the show. The recipients in those years were Justin Ti...
