HELMET To Release First Official Live Album, ‘Live And Rare’

HELMET‘s first official live album, “Live And Rare”, will be released on November 26 via earMUSIC. It will be made available on heavyweight black vinyl as well as a CD digipak edition and digital. Frontman Page Hamilton, who formed HELMET in early 1989, recalls: “After persuading our label folks in Hamburg to bake these old tapes, we finally managed to mix two live shows for release. Side 1 was recorded at CBGBs, which was our neighborhood club, a 10-minute walk from home. We all spent plenty of time at CBs and though this is not our audition night set, it captures the early frenetic energy of the band as well as my lack of scintillating stage banter. “In 1989, I walked in off Bowery through the creaky swinging doors and plastic-slat, meat locker-style curtain...

TESLA’s FRANK HANNON ‘Waited Too Long’ To Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19: ‘This S**t Ain’t No Joke’

TESLA guitarist Frank Hannon says that he made “a big mistake” by waiting too long to get vaccinated against COVID-19. A month ago, TESLA announced it was postponing a few shows after Hannon tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. At the time, Hannon wrote in a social media post that he had “not been able to move all week” and revealed that he woke up with a 102-degree fever and could “hardly breathe” on the day that TESLA was scheduled to leave for tour. Now, in a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Hannon opened up about his COVID-19 battle, saying: “I waited too long to get the vaccine. I’ll be honest, I listened to too many opinions that weren’t qualified. That’s a big mistake that̵...

EVANESCENCE’s AMY LEE Twists Ankle In Hiking Fail

In a new interview with the 102.9 The Buzz radio station, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee, who moved to Nashville in 2019 after living in Brooklyn for 12 years, revaled that she hurt herself “really bad” last week while preparing for her band’s upcoming U.S. tour with HALESTORM. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I hate working out. I hate it. I don’t know about you, but I hate it so much. And I have to find something that engages my mind. And music helps. But I finally found the thing for this time around. “I have to always go through some kind of training before we go back on tour to get my body strong,” she continued. “And I found all these beautiful hiking trails in one of the state parks near here. So I’ve been hiking aroun...

Elements Festival Draws Comparisons to Fyre Fest After Attendees Share Their Unpleasant Experiences

Elements Music & Arts Festival 2021 is drawing comparisons to the infamous Fyre Fest after attendees took to social media to share their experiences during the three-day event. The EDM festival, which took place between September 3 to September 6 in Lakewood, Pennsylvania, was reportedly promoted as a “lakefront paradise” experience. However, attendees who joined the public Facebook group “Elements Shit Show 2021” publicly blasted the festival and its organizers for pushing through with an “understaffed, ill-equipped event” after its campgrounds and infrastructure were heavily affected by Hurricane Ida. Attendees in the Facebook group shared images of the unusable portable toilets and listed out the advertised amenities that Elements supposedly failed to deliver, while some on Twitter ...

Foo Fighters Set to Reopen 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. with Surprise Concert

The Foo Fighters seem determined to singlehandedly reopen the nation’s live music industry one venue at a time. Two and a half months after the band brought concerts back to Madison Square Garden, and a couple weeks after they helped reopen Los Angeles’ The Forum, they’re about to do the same thing at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. According to a social media announcement, Dave Grohl and co. will be performing a special homecoming show called “Surprise! At the Club!” on Thursday, September 9th, at the iconic D.C. venue, which has been closed for the last 18 months due to the still-ongoing coronavirus pandemic. John Carpenter Goes on a “Rampage” in New Song from Halloween Kills: Stream

John Carpenter and his musical collaborators, son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, have unleashed the new song “Rampage.” It’s the latest preview of the Halloween Kills soundtrack, which arrives October 15th alongside the film. “Rampage” is a sinister slow burn, using skittering synth loops and anxious drums to build tension. If the title is accurate, the actual killing may start around the 1:10 mark, when a very loud and heavy chord falls on the track like an axe blow. The menace intensifies around 2:30, and one can imagine the bodies piling up. But the denouement is a relatively calm affair, perhaps suggesting that someone — good or bad — got away. Check out “Rampage” below. Pre-orders for the Halloween Kills soundtrack are ongoing. Last month, Carpe...

Lana Del Rey Finds Grace While Searching For ‘Arcadia’

“My body is a map of L.A./ And my heart is like paper, I hate ya,” Lana Del Rey sings in the second verse “Arcadia,” the fourth single from her eighth studio album, Blue Banisters, out October 22nd via UMG. If we as a society have learned anything in the 10-odd years since “Video Games,” it’s that nobody does breakup songs quite like Lana Del Rey. Though just about everyone since has tried. “Arcadia” is both elegant and elegiac. Over a muted piano, Del Rey sings her origin story with an innocence that recalls Daniel Johnston’s compact masterpiece, “Story Of An Artist.” The way she lets us hear just enough of a quiver feels like an act of surrender for Del Rey. Without the old Hollywood glamor, Del Rey sounds liberated, clear-eyed, and mournful. Del Rey, like her folk forbears Patty Griffin...

SPIN Sets Presents: Supertaste

Supertaste are an open hearted duo who keep themselves receptive to the world’s infinite source of inspiration. Being so open-minded towards their ever-changing environment has helped them evolve as artists, as they utilize a lot of their observations of the world as their own musical perspective.
