DEEP PURPLE Is ‘Turning To Crime’ With Possible Announcement Of New Music

Legendary rockers DEEP PURPLE have launched a countdown clock online for what is expected to be an announcement of the first details of the group’s new music. The countdown, which is scheduled to hit zero on October 6 at 7:00 a.m. PDT / 10:00 a.m. EDT, can be found on the domain name TurningToCrime.com — a possible song or album title — where visitors are redirected to a page on the web site of DEEP PURPLE‘s record label, earMUSIC. The landing page features mugshot-like photos of bandmembers Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey, along with the text “Turning To Crime” and the aforementioned countdown clock. Last December, DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover revealed during a virtual meet-and-greet with Finnish fan Anssi Herkkola that the band w...

Go Behind The Scenes At MEGADETH’s Rehearsals For ‘The Metal Tour Of The Year’

MEGADETH guitarist Kiko Loureiro has uploaded a 12-minute behind-the-scenes video look at the rehearsals for the band’s recently launched “The Metal Tour Of The Year”. Kiko wrote in a message accompanying the YouTube release of the clip: “This time I’m here in Nashville with the band. We are preparing for the tour by rehearsing with the whole team. Come with me and I’ll show you my equipment and the team we work with.” MEGADETH played its first show with bassist James LoMenzo in nearly 12 years on August 20 in Austin, Texas at the opening concert of “The Metal Tour Of The Year”. Produced by Live Nation, the rescheduled trek will wrap in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on Saturday, October 2. LoMenzo joined MEGADETH in 2006 and appeared on t...

JUDAS PRIEST Has ‘At Least An Album Or Two Of New Material’ Ready To Be Recorded

In a new interview with The Morning Call, JUDAS PRIEST bassist Ian Hill spoke about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to 2018’s “Firepower” album. He said: “There’s at least an album or two of new material. The big problem has been COVID over the last year. We haven’t been able to get together, you know? Some of the guys live in the [United] States and a couple of others live in Britain, so we can’t really get together to rehearse. It’s just opening up now, just easing a bit now, which is a bonus.” Ian added that guitarists Richie Faulkner and Glenn Tipton “have pooled their ideas, and they sort of formulate songs out of those ideas. And when they have sort of a rough working track, myself and Scott [Travi...

A Dinner With Ween: Our 1995 Ween Feature

This article originally appeared in the March 1995 issue of SPIN. Just another Friday night in the hard rockin’ territory of New Jersey, with two important differences: (1) I’ve never been here; and (2) it’s the last night of live music at Trenton’s legendary City Gardens. After two hours of turnpike and strip malls, I’m down with rechristening New Jersey the Garbage State. And, from what I’m seeing, City Gardens is going to need one hell of a face-lift to draw as a foofoo discotheque. No matter. Honorary homeboys Dean and Gene Ween have taken the stage with shit-eating grins and the crowd in their pockets. “We’ve played this club like 39 times,” Dean crows, before wrapping a couple of guitar chords around the show’s first inebriating hooks.  Pretty soon the crowd is singing...

Sarah Harding, Girls Aloud Singer, Dead at 39

Sarah Harding has died at the age of 39. The Girls Aloud singer revealed to fans that she was battling breast cancer in August 2020 and that it had spread to other parts of her body. Her mother confirmed the news on Harding’s official Instagram account Saturday morning, writing: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved. I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible d...

BottleRock Pulls the Plug on Guns N’ Roses and Dave Grohl After Breaking Curfew

Imagine pulling the plug on Guns N’ Roses and Dave Grohl performing “Paradise City.” That’s the reality organizers of the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival faced after GN’R’s Saturday night headlining set blew passed the 10:00 pm curfew. Ahead of Foo Fighters’ own headlining set on Sunday, Grohl made a surprise cameo during GN’R’s encore performance of “Paradise City.” However, as Napa Valley has a strict 10:00 p.m. curfew, the band only got through about half of the song before organizers were forced to pull the plug. Undeterred, Axl Rose continued yelling out the song’s lyrics before eventually walking off the stage. Watch fan-captured footage below. After feuding in the 90s, Grohl and GN’R have become quite chummy in recent years. Grohl famously lent his throne to Axl Rose after the GN’R ...

In Lieu of ‘Roo: A Recap of Phoebe Bridgers, Brittany Howard, and Sylvan Esso in Nashville

Following the cancellation of Bonnaroo 2021, in which Hurricane Ida rendered the campgrounds and festival site unusable just days before kickoff, artists are seeking ways to still connect with fans. Among the acts already in middle Tennessee announcing last-minute shows are Leon Bridges, The Band Camino, and Zach Bryan. Saturday, September 4th featured one of the more stacked impromptu lineups of the weekend when Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville welcomed Sylvan Esso, Brittany Howard, and Phoebe Bridgers (with a negative COVID test or proof of vaccination required for entry). Stretching over four hours, the show allowed ample time onstage for all the artists. As Phoebe Bridgers put it, glancing at the nearly 7,000 people gathered in downtown Nashville, “Bonnaroo would’ve been tight…but this...

Lil Uzi Vert Has Implanted Diamond Torn from His Forehead After Diving Into Crowd

If you happen to have a $24 million diamond implanted on your forehead, it’s probably not the best idea to jump into a raging crowd. Lil Uzi Vert learned this the hard way after he jumped into the crowd at Miami’s Rolling Loud Festival only to have his custom Elliot Eliantte diamond ripped right off his forehead. After Lil Uzi Vert was spotted recently without his signature diamond, a TMZ camera man asked him of its whereabouts. “I had a show at Rolling Loud and I jumped into the crowd and they kind of ripped it out,” Uzi explained. Fortunately, he was somehow able to hold onto the diamond and still has it in his possession. After saving up for it since 2017, Lil Uzi Vert got the diamond implanted in February. He temporarily removed it in June after it caused him some bleeding, but had it ...

Bette Midler Calls for Sex Strike in Protest of Texas Abortion Ban

That’s certainly one way of sticking it to the man. Bette Midler took to social media this week to suggest women go on a sexual strike to fight back against their reproductive rights being taken away in Texas’ new anti-abortion bill. “I suggest that all women refuse to have sex with men until they are guaranteed the right to choose by Congress,” the icon tweeted on Thursday, just on day after Texas’ restrictive anti-abortion law — which prohibits women from obtaining an abortion for almost any reason after six weeks of pregnancy — went into effect. Naturally, Midler’s stance set off a firestorm of debate and conversation in the replies, with a number of famous faces also chiming in. “My dad actually suggested that decades ago,” wrote Nancy Sinatra of her father Frank Sinatra, while Rosanna...

Sarah Harding Dead: Girls Aloud Singer Dies at 39 After Cancer Fight

Harding said earlier this year that she was told by a doctor that she will likely not be alive next Christmas. In her autobiography, released in March, she said she decided to announce her illness in the hope that others who have concerns would seek medical help and not leave a cancer diagnosis until it’s too late. Harding found fame in 2002 as a contestant on the ITV talent show “Popstars: The Rivals,” which paved the way for her joining Girls Aloud alongside Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Tweedy and Nadine Coyle. The group had several hits including “Sound of the Underground,” “Love Machine” and “The Promise” before it split up in 2013. After Girls Aloud, Harding appeared in several movies and television shows as well as a stage adaptation of “Ghost” the movie. She won the reali...

Chris Brown Shares His Unreleased Verse for Kanye West’s ‘Donda’

Though Brown is listed as one of the “New Again” writers, he apparently wasn’t too thrilled to learn his contribution had been dropped when Donda was surprise released on Aug. 29. He reportedly referred to West as a “whole hoe” in an Instagram Story hours after the album’s arrival. He later deleted that comment and shared another Story that simply said, “Nah he tweakin’.” CB wasn’t the only artist miffed at the “Follow God” rapper for not including their work on Donda. Soulja Boy blasted West the day Donda — named after Kanye’s late mother — arrived, after a fan asked him via Twitter what he thought about the album. “idk how to feel, Kanye sent me that song ‘remote control’ and ...
