Rap Song of the Week breaks down the rap and hip-hop song releases you need to hear each week. Check out the full playlist here. For our latest installment, Kanye West teams up with Fivio Foreign and Playboi Carti for “Off the Grid.” Following three public listening events and several missed release dates, Kanye West’s much-fabled Donda finally dropped on Sunday morning. With 27 tracks to choose from, picking a standout song was no easy task, but “Off the Grid” fits the bill because it sees the G.O.O.D. Music founder at his best. Sprinkling his own touch on Brooklyn drill, Kanye brings out a lyrical side of Fivio Foreign rarely seen before, while also sounding right at home over the wobbling bass and gothic synths. The track was reportedly first made as a solo track for Playboi Carti, who ...
Production on the The Offer, an upcoming limited series about the making of The Godfather, was put on hold over the summer after the show’s star, Miles Teller, reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. The Daily Mail reports that Teller is unvaccinated, and his positive test forced Paramount Television to halt production for nearly a month. In a statement, Teller’s publicist disputed The Daily Mail’s report, but declined to elaborate further. Tellers himself responded to the report on Twitter, retweeting a direct message thread with the gossip Instagram account deuxmoi in which an anonymous individual confirmed Teller was on set. Teller also posted a photo of himself on set. However, the actor has not disclosed his vaccination status. Advertisement Related Video The Offer tells the behind-t...

HipHopWired Featured Video We don’t know if it’s his “canceled” status or the fact that he was able to get on Kanye’s Donda album, but lately DaBaby’s been going hard trying to repair his reputation while dropping new visuals to remind everyone that he raps pretty damn well. Coming through with a new clip for “Wokesha,” DaBaby keeps it simple by simply puffing on a blunt while sitting on a chair and rapping his ass off. Those chains and pieces look like they hella heavy, b. Keeping the theme of controversial rappers in the game, Boosie Badazz too has run afoul of many in the game and basically copps to being the bad guy in his visuals to “Hell’s Angel” where he shows off his home to prove that being bad can sometimes payoff. Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Soulja Bo...
The connection between fan and musician has always been an elusive one. But GRiZ understands that both parties are kindred spirits—and that should not only be celebrated, but rewarded. In collaboration with GRiZ and his team, we found seven super-fans to share their favorite memories and stories as part of the Michigan-born electronic music virtuoso’s tight-knit community. Max Dashevsky “I saw GRiZ for the first time in 2012 at the Blue Note in Columbia, MO, opening for Big Gigantic. My friend bought me a ticket because he wanted to introduce me to the funkier side of electronic music. As soon as GRiZ started his set and played that sax, I was completely blown away. I fell in love with his energy and music right then and there. Since then, I have seen him all acr...
Leotrix is unstoppable. The Australian wunderkind is back with his fourth EP of the year, Out Of Order, via Never Say Die. Once again, Leotrix has released a record that puts his production prowess on full display. Heavy from front to back, Out Of Order adds even more depth to his high-powered arsenal via four tracks that masterfully maintain a cohesive feel. “Jump” is the lone collaboration on the EP and it’s a doozy. Leotrix has tapped fellow Australian AGES to provide his own flavor of grime to the tune. His flow fits seamlessly over the old-school feel of the beat, providing bars through the majority of the drop before Leotrix’s mind-melting production takes the fore. The following track “Crash Report” follows takes th...
Nothing is bolder than coming fresh out of the gate with a new take on a storied genre. Lupa has done just that on her mau5trap debut “For the Ride.” Diving in with a plethora of eerie ambient sounds, listeners will quickly find themselves surrounded by a hypnotic techno buildup. The broodiness of the track maintains throughout, with mesmeric vocal samples serving as a light in the darkness. “For the Ride” captures an old-school feel while simultaneously introducing contemporary elements, emphasizing Lupa’s skill set. As Lupa’s first major release, the Bay Area product has tested her mettle and proven her production is ready for the spotlight. Keep your eyes on her as she’s just getting started. Only two years into his musical project, longstoryshort is making waves with his self-described cinematic bass sound. Today he returns by way of Night Mode with his new single “Power To The People.” Catchy and downright anthemic, “Power To The People” is longstoryshort’s most impressive single yet. The distinct vocal sample alone is enough to get a crowd moving but the anonymous New York producer has produced a bass house beast for listeners to groove to. The chaotic energy of the tune is perfect for a dancefloor burner like this, making it one to listen for as festival season rages on. Since 2019, longstoryshort has quickly made a name for himself. His tracks “Both Sides” and “Lost Summer” have garnered him an...

Ronnie James Dio‘s former wife and longtime manager Wendy Dio says that she decided to pull the plug on the hologram of the legendary metal singer because she “wanted to see real Ronnie.” Dio died in 2010 at the age of 67 from stomach cancer. The singer’s hologram was created by a company called Eyellusion and made its debut at the Wacken Open Air festival in August 2016 in front of more than 75,000 fans. The Dio hologram production used audio of Ronnie‘s live performances from throughout his career, with the DIO band playing live, consisting of Craig Goldy on guitar, Simon Wright on drums and Scott Warren on keyboards, along with Bjorn Englen on bass. Also appearing with them were ex-JUDAS PRIEST singer Tim “Ripper” Owens and former LYNCH MOB fron...
