The sun set early for a music festival at Isla Blanca Park in Texas over the weekend. Thousands of Sol Beach Festival attendees are demanding refunds after the power went out, the result of an incident that the Cameron County Parks Department attributed on Tuesday to “unforeseen third-party equipment issues.” The festival was put on by AARM Business Group and started on August 28th. Attendees were told that Puerto Rican superstar Myke Towers would be performing, among others, but the rapper failed to appear as a result of the equipment issues. Watch the video below, in which KEVVO performs before the sound cuts out. After a DJ came on stage and stated the power would be restored, attendees reportedly waited for hours, but to no avail. Police eventually arrived and told everyone...
BMG will release IRON MAIDEN‘s 17th studio album, “Senjutsu”, the band’s first in six years, on September 3. It was recorded in Paris with longstanding producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by bassist Steve Harris. It was preceded on July 15 by an already highly acclaimed animated video for the first single “The Writing On The Wall” made by BlinkInk based on a concept by singer Bruce Dickinson with two former Pixar executives. It followed a month-long teaser campaign and global “treasure hunt” for clues about the track title and concept. In a new interview with T95 The Rock Station, MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain stated about the making of “Senjutsu” (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “We started recording in March — maybe...

A few examples will definitely surprise you. Throughout the episode, Alex provides musical analysis to compare and contrast the songs, and discusses several of the most controversial musical legal battles over “who wrote it f...
Neil Murray, a founding member of WHITESNAKE who played bass on one of the best-selling hard rock albums of all time, the band’s self-titled 1987 effort, was asked in a new interview with Rolling Stone when the last time was that he spoke to WHITESNAKE leader David Coverdale. He responded: “Probably a few months ago. I didn’t speak to him for many, many years. I went to see WHITESNAKE a few times when I wasn’t in the band. and he’d even say onstage, ‘Oh, I hear Neil Murray is in the audience. I hope he’s going to come backstage afterwards.’ And I wouldn’t do that simply because there would be such a difference between their level of success and what I was doing at the time, which would be virtually nothing or something very obscure. I...
A hymn to simple pleasures and universal emotions, QUEEN drummer Roger Taylor‘s new solo single “We’re All Just Trying To Get By” arrived on August 19. Building on more than half a century in music, both inside and outside QUEEN, this achingly beautiful ballad is a classy curtain-raiser for Roger‘s first solo album in eight years, “Outsider”, due for release October 1. The song was conceived in the dark depths of lockdown but taps into brighter feelings, musing on the communal bonds and survival instincts that unite all creatures great and small, even in times of division and isolation. “We’re All Just Trying to Get By” is a gorgeous piece of dreamy pop with a sweeping widescreen melody, a radiant glow, and a quietly profound, ult...
There’s no shortage of games that get lumped into the “Souls-like” subgenre of grueling and unforgiving RPGs that were inspired by Dark Souls, but few of them have a unique twist on the gameplay and mechanics like Eldest Souls. As the first title from the European indie devs at Fallen Flag Studio, Eldest Souls is a pixel art boss rush comprised entirely of chaotic and challenging battles against the mightiest of enemies. While not quite as bleak and gothic as the Souls games, the atmosphere in Eldest Souls can be every bit as intimidating as Lordran, thanks largely to the score from industry newcomer Sergio Ronchetti. SPIN caught up with Ronchetti via Zoom to discuss his heavy metal roots, adapting his musical skills to the video game world, and much more. SPIN: What would you want people ...
Cheyenne and Zach will welcome their son on the upcoming Teen Mom OG season. And before their little boy makes his debut, doctor’s visits are on the schedule — but Zach is unable to go inside at the appointment due to COVID-19 protocols. “I just want to be there,” Zach tells Chey as they drive to the appointment in the sneak peek above, just before he asks her, “Can you FaceTime me, please?” Chey did not video call him during the checkup, but producer JC was able to hear the baby’s heartbeat because Zach went to the bathroom. And when Chey returned, Zach was unhappy. And so was Chey. “Do you think I want to walk into every appointment by myself?” she angrily asks. But the argument only escalates from there, and the tension is visibly ri...
“And you know that I know that I can’t live without you.” With these words, Justin Bieber nudged ”Stay,” his collaboration with The Kid Laroi, into the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, where it currently reigns at No. 1. And it’s just further proof of Bieber’s staying power (pun intended), fully on display in the 2021 VMA nominations, where he’s up for seven awards — the most of any artist. But that was only the beginning of Bieber’s Moonperson journey this year. When the show touches down at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on September 12, he will take his talents to the stage for a dynamic performance, his first since the 2015 show. Bieber, a longtime VMAs mainstay, has racked up nominations this year in the categories of Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best...
