Peacock and Will Smith have officially announced the lead actor of its upcoming The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reboot — West Philadelphia native and songwriter, singer, rapper and basketball player Jabari Banks. Smith gave the news to Banks himself via video call, the young actor spinning around in his chair in surprise. “I’m ready. I’m so ready, y’all. I’m ready to bite down,” he said, further explaining that his dad first sent him a link to the news of the reboot and that his agent sent him the casting call two months after. Banks also shared an old photo of him from high school where he and his friends dressed up as the cast of Fresh Prince, adding, “The way this show has impacted me and my life… It’s incredible to hear you say that.” BEL-AIR will be a modern take on the ’90s sitcom and wi...

Long Live Vinyl

If 2020 brought anything good, it’s another high point in the unimaginable meteoric rise in record sales. Sales grew 46% from 2019, with 27.5 million LPs sold in the United States last year, vinyl outsold CDs for the first time since the 1980s — when vinyl started losing to its polycarbonate plastic counterpart. It’s clear now that the old medium for listening to music isn’t just for the nostalgic or hipster purists that are obsessed with sound quality. It’s becoming a mainstream way to collect and consume music. But why? When it comes to technology, we’re all about moving forward rapidly, staying on the cutting edge. So, why, then, when the biggest music catalog on Earth sits just a couple of touches away on our smart devices, are we returning to a century-old medium? For many, it may jus...

Here’s What ‘Street Fighter’ Characters Would Look Like With Real Human Faces

If you’ve ever wondered what the characters of Street Fighter would look like as real people, Siberian_644 has the answer. While there’s always the 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme Street Fighter film for an interesting point of reference, there has never been anything that matches the face of the characters closely to that of a real living human. Using StyleCLIP artificial intelligence, Siberian_644 imputed the fictional characters into the Google algorithm where pictures of real human faces were processed into thumbnails. Some of the images are spot on in likeness to the video game characters while some are just terribly wrong and make for a good laugh. Fans of the game can check out the final product below. Street Fighter V Characters photos doctored by Google algorithm. Thread. #StreetFighte...

Kelly Clarkson & John Legend Warn Ariana Grande to ‘Never Trust’ Blake Shelton in Hilarious ‘Voice’ Teaser

Shelton was kind enough to also welcome Grande to the show. “Hey, Ariana, it’s Blake and I wanted to say welcome to the show, officially on social media,” he said before dealing a blow. “They asked me to give you a piece of advice, but I could care less if you do well on the show. It’s my job to beat you.” Shelton’s video then cut to a clip of him saying, “I’m making it my mission not to lose in any way, shape, or form to Ariana” while sitting next to her in their chairs. Grande had a message of her own to her fellow coaches: “Thank you, guys. Thank you, Kelly, thank you, Blake, thank you, John for your amazing help and guidance. If I had one piece of advice to return, I would just say … watch out.” Watch the hilarious promo clip ...

Elton John Teams Up With Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa & More for New Collaborations Album

“The last thing I expected to do during lockdown was make an album. But, as the pandemic went on, one-off projects kept cropping up,” John said of the new album in a statement. “All the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory. And I realized there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late ’60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I’d come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast.” One of the songs on the album, “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” with Dua Lipa, has a...

Bad Bunny Scores His 15th No. 1 on Latin Airplay Chart With ‘Yonaguni’

“Yonaguni” marks Bad Bunny’s fourth Latin Airplay leader without another artist among his compendium of 15 No. 1s. It follows three in 2020: “Vete” (one week at No. 1, March 14), “La Dificil” (one, August) and “Yo Perreo Sola” (two, June). Meek Mill and Lil Uzi Vert Release New Track and Video “Blue Notes 2”

Meek Mill has teamed up with Lil Uzi Vert for a new song and accompanying music video titled “Blue Notes 2.” The music video, which dropped today, was directed by Kid Art and co-directed by the Philadelphia rapper himself. Featuring a dark blue visual effect overlay, Meek Mill and crew are seen riding on ATVs at night. Meek Mill discusses aspects of turmoil and the subsequent triumph that came from it: “All of my money is blue, riddle me this/I supposed to go get money, and keep doin’ favors and give all my money to who?” Lil Uzi Vert comes in later to reiterate the same sentiment: “Twenty-thousand at best, she ain’t dumpin’ me/I’m on point ain’t no b*tch out here runnin’ me/Lamborghini, the same color Bumblebee/Pull up Cullinan, same color, butter seats.” Meek Mill has been busy lately as...

Andy Shauf Shares New Single “Spanish on the Beach”: Stream

Andy Shauf has shared the new single “Spanish on the Beach,” and — big news for Shauficionados — it seemingly makes a reference to Judy, a recurring character from his excellent 2020 concept album The Neon Skyline. The stories of The Neon Skyline unfolded over one night, and while that record benefitted from such a limited scope, it meant that some of Shauf’s more expansive ideas landed on the cutting room floor. That was true of the B-sides he shared last summer, “Judy,” and “Jeremy’s Wedding,” and while it doesn’t sound like “Spanish on the Beach” was ever intended for Skyline, it does look at the Judyverse from a few thousand miles away. “Spanish on the Beach” takes place at an all-inclusive resort, as the narrator’s partner tries out a bit of Spanish. “I t...

Seinfeld Coming to Netflix in October

Festivus is coming early this year, as Seinfeld will be available to stream on Netflix starting October 1st. Netflix acquired the rights to all 180 episodes of the classic sitcom in 2019, but had to wait another two years before the show’s existing distribution deal with Hulu ran its course. Since June, Seinfeld has not been available on any streaming platform, but come October 1st Netflix will finally get its $500 million worth. “Larry [David] and I are enormously grateful to Netflix for taking this chance on us. It takes a lot of guts to trust two schmucks who literally had zero experience in television when we made this thing,” joked Jerry Seinfeld in a statement. “We really got carried away, I guess. I didn’t realize we made so many of them. Hope to recoup god knows how many millions i...
