IRON MAIDEN’s NICKO MCBRAIN Shares His Thoughts On Passing Of CHARLIE WATTS And JOEY JORDISON

In a new interview with Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF radio station, IRON MAIDEN‘s Nicko McBrain shared his thoughts on the recent death of Charlie Watts, drummer and core member of THE ROLLING STONES for the past six decades, as well as the tragic passing of former SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison. Asked if Watts was an early influence on his playing, McBrain said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Oh, absolutely. Charlie was such a phenomenal timekeeper — a great player. There’s a saying — I’ve said it a couple of times before — it’s not about the notes; it’s about the space in between, in taking the music generality of it. And that’s what Charlie did — he had this incredible feel on the backside of the groove. “When I started playing,...

Noel Gallagher’s Son Taught Him How to Play AC/DC’s “Back in Black”

For the Gallaghers, musical proficiency is a family affair. Liam and Noel rose to superstardom as the core members of Oasis, and their kids are apparently following in their footsteps: During a recent episode of his residency on British rock station Radio X (via NME), Noel revealed that his 10-year-old son, Sonny, taught him how to play the AC/DC classic “Back in Black.” The High Flying Birds singer said that ever since Sonny picked up the guitar not too long ago, he “rattles around on it every night.” But rather than gravitating towards the Britpop of Oasis, Noel’s “little protégé” is evidently big on classic rock bands like AC/DC and Queen. I genuinely did not know how to play this riff, ‘Back In Black’, which is a famous riff,” Noel said. Noel went on to describe how he’s been thoughtfu...

Taliban Bans Public Music In Afghanistan

In the wake of the United States’ ongoing withdrawal from Afghanistan and the impending takeover of the nation by the Taliban, the country is experiencing a concerted cultural shock impacting nearly all aspects of daily life. One Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, who Newsweek notes is a likely figure for the nation’s Minister of Information and Culture, has already indicated the public presence of music is going to be banned.  “Music is forbidden in Islam,” Mujahid bluntly stated. “But we’re hoping that we can persuade people not to do such things, instead of pressuring them.” The regressive position was similarly held by the Taliban when they last ruled the country from 1996 to 2001. Such proclamations have already resu...

Turns out Justin Timberlake is a TLC fan. In a video posted to his Instagram account on Friday (Aug. 27), the “SexyBack” singer is chilling in a studio during what appears to be a recording session, before busting out in song to none other than TLC’s 1999 hit “No Scrubs.” In the clip — simply captioned “Still hits” — Timberlake is sitting next to Ant Clemons (singer-songwriter and former Kanye West collaborator), who assists him with singing the song in unison. Grammy-winning pop producer Angel Lopez strums the tune of “No Scrubs” on his guitar in the background, while critically acclaimed producer Timbaland (a four-time Grammy winner) stares intently at his computer and keyboard setup as the shenanigans ensue behind him. “Yo, that song is still dope,” T...

Fortnite Locks Out Emotes During Dr Martin Luther King Jnr Interactive Event

Everyone from Lara Croft to Master Chief has made an appearance in Fortnite along the way, but that didn’t prepare anyone for the game’s latest interactive event surrounding the legacy of civil rights activist, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Creating in partnership with Time, the March Through Time event offers players the chance to relive Dr King’s 17-minute “I Have a Dream” speech in a recreation of the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall called D.C. 63, created by Fortnite Creative community members. While eight dedicated emotes are made available to players participating in the event, the use of legacy emotes, not to mention four years worth of skins from every corner of the metaverse, has attracted criticism of players being “disrespectful” during the speech. As such Epic Games has now disa...

The clip, which was uploaded to the band’s social media accounts on Friday, is set to the 1974 track “If You Can’t Rock Me” and concludes with a photo of Watts‘s drum set that has a “closed” sign hanging on it.
