Everyone from Lara Croft to Master Chief has made an appearance in Fortnite along the way, but that didn’t prepare anyone for the game’s latest interactive event surrounding the legacy of civil rights activist, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Creating in partnership with Time, the March Through Time event offers players the chance to relive Dr King’s 17-minute “I Have a Dream” speech in a recreation of the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall called D.C. 63, created by Fortnite Creative community members. While eight dedicated emotes are made available to players participating in the event, the use of legacy emotes, not to mention four years worth of skins from every corner of the metaverse, has attracted criticism of players being “disrespectful” during the speech. As such Epic Games has now disa...
THE ROLLING STONES have paid tribute to Charlie Watts with a two-minute video featuring various photos and footage of their late drummer over the years. The clip, which was uploaded to the band’s social media accounts on Friday, is set to the 1974 track “If You Can’t Rock Me” and concludes with a photo of Watts‘s drum set that has a “closed” sign hanging on it. Watts‘s publicist said that he “passed away peacefully” on August 24 “in a London hospital surrounded by his family.” Charlie‘s death came just weeks after THE ROLLING STONES announced that Watts would be missing several U.S. tour dates while he was recovering from an unspecified medical procedure. The 12-date “No Filter” tour will reportedly t...
Last night (Friday, August 27), GUNS N’ ROSES played the first-ever rock concert at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium, a 65,000-seat venue which is run by the Las Vegas Raiders. The show was part of the band’s U.S. tour, which kicked off on July 31 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Support on the trek is coming from Wolfgang Van Halen‘s MAMMOTH WVH. Prior to the Allegiant concert, the most recent GUNS N’ ROSES show in Las Vegas was the band’s appearance at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2019, a three-hour performance which closed its “Not In This Lifetime” tour. When GUNS N’ ROSES‘ concert at Allegiant was first announced, Kurt Melien of Live Nation, which produced the gig, said in a statement: “As the largest concert promo...
“Guardian Angel”, the third single from ALCATRAZZ‘s brand new album “V”, set for release October 15, can be streamed below. The LP will feature original members Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea, along with new vocalist Doogie White (RAINBOW, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST), drummer Mark Benquechea and guitarist Joe Stump. As soon as the proverbial needle has connected with the proverbial first-etched groove of “V” album opener “Guardian Angel”, it is pedal to the metal in the most glorious, traditional sense. Stump and guest drummer for the track Nigel Glockler (SAXON) front-foot it from that first split second, screaming guitar sprinting next to those thunderous drums, and then the voice of White tears into action, smashing the notes...
Corey Taylor says that the new SLIPKNOT album will include some songs which are “really outside the realm” of what he and his bandmates have done before. The singer, who spent the last few days quarantining at a Denver hotel after testing positive for COVID-19, discussed SLIPKNOT‘s follow-up to 2019’s “We Are Not Your Kind” LP while chatting with fans as part of this year’s GalaxyCon. Speaking about the progress of the album’s recording sessions, Corey said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I was actually supposed to finish my vocals this week. I got screwed, man, [by the COVID diagnosis]. I actually only have really three songs left to do. I’ve done all the other tracks because I’ve been doing ’em in between tour...
BTS and Megan Thee Stallion have teamed up for the first time ever to remix the former’s smash hit “Butter.” Earlier this week, it was unsure if the remix would ever release, as Megan filed a temporary restraining order against her label 1501 Certified Entertainment, stating that they were blocking her from appearing on the track. On August 24, a judge in Megan’s home state of Texas ruled in favor of Megan’s temporary order, permitting her — and BTS — to begin promoting the track and release it. The original version of “Butter” spent nine weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart before falling to The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay,” but with Megan’s extensive fan base (the Hotties) joining BTS’s globe-spanning ARMY, there’s a good chance it’ll roar to the top of the charts once aga...

Ron Holzner, formerly of doom metal legends TROUBLE and currently in THE SKULL, spoke to the Chicago Reader about the recent passing of his longtime bandmate Eric Wagner. Eric, who was TROUBLE‘s original singer, died last weekend after a battle with COVID pneumonia. He was 62 years old. According to the bassist, Wagner was generally opposed to institutionalized medicine but he wouldn’t make an exception for the COVID vaccine. “We argued about it, and he stood his ground on the matter,” Holzner said. “I always joked, ‘The World According To Eric Wagner — you should write a book.’ He lived his life his way.” Wagner, who smoked cigarettes and occasionally drank and vaped, had health issues, but had begun taking better care of himself and switchi...
Greek guitar virtuoso Gus G., well known in rock and metal circles for his work as Ozzy Osbourne‘s guitarist and as leader of his own band FIREWIND, will release a new solo album, “Quantum Leap”, on October 8 via AFM Records. The official music video for the disc’s latest single, “Enigma Of Life”, can be seen below. “Quantum Leap” came together over the course of the worldwide pandemic that, unfortunately, prevented FIREWIND‘s self-titled album from 2020 from gaining any real momentum. Immobilized by the quarantine measures that kept him at home, Gus began compiling musical ideas to keep himself occupied, which led to the full-on effort to write and record an album during the summer of 2021. “I didn’t make ‘Quantum Lea...
In the latest episode of AXS TV‘s “Rock & Tell”, HALESTORM frontwoman Lzzy Hale shares her rock and roll collection and the stories behind them. Among the items Lzzy discusses are a laminate signed by Ronnie James Dio when HALESTORM opened for HEAVEN & HELL in 2009, and the Grammy Award HALESTORM received in 2012 in the category of “Best Hard Rock/ Metal Performance” for “Love Bites (So Do I)”. Earlier in the month, HALESTORM released a new single, “Back From The Dead”. The track is taken from the band’s upcoming fifth full-length album, due in 2022. An accompanying video for “Back From The Dead”, which was directed by Dustin Haney (Noah Cyrus, Luke Combs) and produced by Revolution Pictures, features Lzzy and ...
The Lowdown: After earning well-deserved buzz with their 2018 sophomore album, Time & Space, Baltimore’s Turnstile continue their sonic evolution on their new genre-defying effort, Glow On. It would be easy to just call Turnstile a hardcore band, but that only scratches the surface of the music that this adventurous quintet creates. The Good: Fans of Turnstile’s hardcore roots are treated to their fair share of heavy tracks on Glow On, but those songs are balanced with melodic alt-rock tunes that shine just as brightly. A handful of the songs on Glow On also appeared on the Turnstile Love Connection EP that preceded the full-length by two months, one of which is the infectious leadoff track “Mystery.” A candidate for best rock song of the year, “Mystery” roars with a Nirvana-like guita...
On their sophomore outing as Big Red Machine, Aaron Dessner (The National) and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) take their time. The end of August is here — much like last year’s folklore, an album with writing and production contributions from both artists, this period has arrived with an album that revels in the dog days of summer. Bon Iver and The National are two acts that followed similar timelines during their respective ascents within the indie rock world. (Perhaps the best way to contextualize their initial connection is with the reminder that Dessner and Vernon first became friends over MySpace.) There’s a gentleness associated with their music, both from their individual endeavors and from work together, and How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? fits that same bill, bobbing steadily ove...
