Maybe your spidey-sense is tingling, or maybe that low rumble is just the YouTube views counter ticking away at an unprecedented pace. As Deadline reports, the new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has amassed a staggering 355.5 million global views in its first 24 hours, shattering the previous record of 289 million views set by Avengers: Endgame. The buzz extends beyond the total views. The No Way Home teaser trailer led to 4.5 million mentions on social media globally, making it the largest 24-hour social media conversation of all-time. It isn’t hard to understand why; this follow-up to Far From Home has some pretty serious implications for the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. The trailer finds Peter Parker (Tom Holland) asking Doctor Strange ...
Nearly four decades after unleashing “Safety Dance” on the world, Men Without Hats are writing the next chapter of the story with their new single “No Friends of Mine.” Take a listen below. Built around hop-scotching synths, booming percussion, and an all-too-familiar melody line on flute, the track slows the 1982 new wave classic down into a rather soothing meditation while replicating its original lyrics. “We can dance if we want to/ We can leave your friends behind/ ‘Cause your friends don’t dance/ And if they don’t dance/ Well, they’re no friends of mine,” Ivan Doroschuk croons before a bombastic beat crashes in on the song’s chorus. “After the filming of the music video for ‘Safety Dance,’ the jester and the crazy blonde girl settled down in West Kington. He became the mayor of the to...

Ahead of the release of Corey Taylor‘s version of “Holier Than Thou” on METALLICA‘s “Blacklist” album, the SLIPKNOT and STONE SOUR frontman sat down with Knotfest.com‘s Ryan J. Downey to discuss METALLICA, “Holier Than You” and more in a four-part series. Speaking about how METALLICA, MEGADETH, SLAYER and ANTHRAX shaped his musical identity in the late 1980s and created a sound that defined a generation, Taylor said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “That was the sounding gun for a whole new generation of psychos, because those bands appealed to so many different — I don’t wanna say ‘cliques,’ but so many different crowds. The punk kids loved them, the metal kids worshipped them. It was still too underground ...
IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson says that he “can pretty much do anything” on his new titanium hip following his surgery late last year. The 63-year-old musician, who also previously revealed that he suffered an Achilles tendon rupture, discussed his recent health issues in a new interview with Revolver. Asked how his Achilles is feeling these days, Dickinson said: “Ha! The Achilles is fine. At the end of April [2019], just about 10 days before I finished all the vocals [for the upcoming MAIDEN album ‘Senjutsu’], I was fencing and all of a sudden it just felt like someone had given me an electric shock in the back of my right leg. I was on the floor, and I looked at my leg and my foot was kind of not really connected to the rest of my leg. I was, like, R...
Legendary guitarist George Lynch recently spoke to Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio about what it has been like to play select shows around the country with his newly christened touring entity GEORGE LYNCH & THE ELECTRIC FREEDOM. He said: “It’s liberating, actually, to be quite honest with you. To have a new band and a new name and a name that — I mean, just the power of the name, ’cause with the new name, which is GEORGE LYNCH’S ELECTRIC FREEDOM, it really is electric freedom. I didn’t even think of it that way, but [ELECTRIC FREEDOM bassist] Michael Devin and I were were talking the other day on the way home, and we were, like, ‘This really defines the band.’ And it really does. Because we’re plugged in, we do a lot of kind of just off-...
RATING: 8/10 Full credit to Martin Mendez. Best known as bassist with OPETH since 1997, the Barcelona-based Uruguayan could conceivably have swerved the side-project route altogether and been content with membership in one of the most revered bands on the planet. Instead, he launched WHITE STONES with excellent debut album 2020’s “Kuarahy”, establishing a crystal-clear blueprint for gnarly, old-school death metal with a pronounced, and perhaps inevitable, progressive streak. The latter does, of course, lead to certain moments on “Dancing Into Oblivion” faintly echoing the early works of Mendez‘s alma mater, but the band’s second observation is distinctive enough in its own right to briskly club those comparisons away. Sonically rooted in the pristi...
