Seattle-based artist MuhBoi has unveiled There Is No God In Apple Land, a mind-bending, seven-track album that traverses the darkest alleys of experimental electronic music. The trippy record, which was inspired by artists like Onehoetrix Point Never and Clams Casino, was released by good, Soft. Records and produced by way of live instrumentation, sampling, and digital production. The album kicks off with the house music-influenced “Catch,” an ambient slow-burner with glitchy sound design and dystopian soundscapes. “Drenched” follows in a similar vein with eerie synths and cleverly syncopated drum patterns ahead of the ensuing track “You Are My Cellar Door,” a dissonant bass jam oozing with experimental flair. Then come...
Music is a reflection of the times—a snapshot of the mood of a society and a window into the soul of the enduring human spirit. When enthusiasm is high, anthemic powerhouses tend to arise, urging listeners to have fun, worry less, and party more. And when morale slips, the tones are somber and lyrics turn towards self-reflection. Inarguably, humankind is currently experiencing the latter, and musicians are listening. As producers emerge from the progressive tones of the 2010s, electronic artists have taken a liking towards deeper, techno-driven sounds. The minimalistic approach practically mirrors society’s angst amidst a global pandemic, something Cosmic Gate picked up on and created yet another shift in their musical catalog. Having recently completed their 20th anniversary to...
BTS will no longer be embarking on a long-awaited world tour. The K-Pop group had originally announced its massive Map of the Soul Tour in January 2020, set to commence in Seoul in April and span 38 concerts across Asia, North America and Europe. The tour was then postponed in March 2020 due to the pandemic and its timeline has remained in limbo ever since. BTS did, however, perform at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards earlier this year in March and in a series of televised performances, including BBC One’s Radio 1 Live Lounge for the debut of its TV special. On Friday, the band’s label Big Hit Entertainment officially canceled the tour, this time without rescheduled dates for the future, and said that fans will be refunded for their tickets. The news was announced in a statement posted to the BTS ch...
Mike Richards has stepped down as the host of Jeopardy! only a week after assuming the position. His resignation follows a report released by The Ringer on Wednesday, which exposed offensive comments that Richards had made during episodes of his pop culture podcast The Randumb Show between 2013 and 2014. This included asking his assistant and cohost if they had “ever taken nude photos” and commenting on women’s bathing suit choices. Every episode of the podcast and its website were removed after The Ringer contacted Sony and Richards’s agent. Richards was tapped last week to succeed longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, who died in November at the age of 80 after a battle with cancer. The season-long search for a new host involved welcoming guest hosts on for each episode, presuma...
Young Thug has returned with the official release of “Tick Tock,” a song that fans first heard at Rolling Loud Miami last month. Premiering alongside a music video directed by Emil Nava, the opening scenes see Thug roll up to an office building in a pink Lamborghini and step out in a head-to-toe pink outfit. As the trademark color of his Punk era, the rapper debuted his freshly-dyed bubblegum hair at Rolling Loud and similarly sported all pink for his performance. Thug satirizes the eponymous app while flexing his work ethic — as he surveys his office, some employees’ eyes remain glued to their phones, while others film videos in front of a ring light and upload them to the app, following which he appears before viewers on a massive phone screen. In addition to streaming “Tick Tock” online...
The conversation occurred before a concert in a city that Smith could not recall, but said he was instructed to book a flight after the show. With bodyguard Tyree Jameson along, Smith said, “As soon as the show was over, we got in the car and went to the airport.” Kelly was quiet in the limo, Smith recalled, and once they were on the plane, Kelly paused for a really long time with his eyes closed before making the revelation. “R. Kelly said, ‘Aaliyah, man. She think’s she’s pregnant,'” Smith testified. “It was a shock.” Smith said Kelly told him that his business manager and accountant Daryl McDavid was already making arrangements for Kelly and Aaliyah to get married. The two were later married in Cook Coun...
Remi Wolf, “Quiet On Set” In need of some deeply chaotic energy in your life? Remi Wolf is here to help with “Quiet On Set,” one of two new singles she released this week in advance of her upcoming album Juno. The wilder of the two, “Quiet On Set” sees Remi embracing her childish side, as she raps about everything from ordering Chuck-E-Cheese on Postmates to having an orgy with five guys at a Five Guys. The grooving electric keyboard only adds to the anarchic song, which you should start bumping in your headphones ASAP. “Every song on this record is a vivid snapshot into what was going on in my life and mindset the day I wrote each one,” Wolf said of her upcoming album. “I hope my Remjobs can hear my honesty and passion come throug...
“Sand in My Boots” marks the first country radio release for Wallen since his music was temporarily banned from country radio stations, after TMZ posted a video Feb. 2 of Wallen uttering a racial slur outside his home in Nashville. Country radio station conglomerates, including iHeartMedia, Cumulus, Cox Media and Beasley, yanked Wallen’s music from the airwaves shortly after the video surfaced. Several country stations quietly added some of Wallen’s hits back this summer, including “Whiskey Glasses,” and then began playing “Boots” several weeks ago, prior to its official release. “Boots” stands at No. 39 in its seventh week on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart dated Aug. 21 and gained 6% over the previous week, reaching 2.3 million audience impressions, according to MRC Data. Currently, 29...
Sado: There are mainly two ways for me to enjoy music. Live performances are overwhelmingly the best way to appreciate the wonder of a piece. Whether it’s a piano being played or an entire orchestra in a music hall, it’s awe-inspiring to experience the air vibrating in front of me. But I also enjoy listening to recorded music, such as on a record or a digital format, because it gives a feeling of reconnecting with the past through that sound source. Maybe I wasn’t alive when it was made, but a recording can give a sense of the sound and actually being there. There is meaning in just being able to reconnect; whether the medium is digital or analog is fine with me. Sorita: The digital evolution of classical music has created a way for people who couldn’t be at a live perfor...

Guess this means we won’t be getting a delayed 20th anniversary tour for Stankonia, but there’s always the (admitte...
