However, with the Delta variant of COVID continuing to spread, Nine Inch Nails will not be heading out on tour after all. The slate of Nine Inch Nails tour dates included a slew of festivals and a pair of more intimate shows at the band’s spiritual home of Cleveland. In a statement posted on the band’s social media, Nine Inch Nails explained their decision a bit further. “It is with great regret that we are cancelling all NIN appearances for the remainder of this year,” the statement began. “When originally planned, these shows were intended to be...

ADE 2021 Hangs In the Balance After Dutch Government’s “Disastrous” COVID-19 Nightlife Restrictions

The 2021 edition of Amsterdam Dance Event, the world’s premier electronic music summit, is in jeopardy after the Dutch government’s latest clamp on nightlife. Amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in the Netherlands, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Health Minister Hugo de Jonge organized a press conference last week to announce that Dutch nightclubs must remain shuttered until November 1st. “I realize that this is again a hard message and that more was hoped for,” Rutte said. “The work in these sectors can continue, but with one hand tied behind their back for the time being.” ADE is scheduled for October 13-17, painting a grim picture for what was supposed to be the event’s triumphant return after going virtual in 2020. Organizers recently c...

Dirtybird Road to Campout 2021: Recap

The spirits were high and alive at the 2021 Dirtybird Road to Campout.  The happy campers descended upon Los Angeles’ Expo Park on August 8th, the previous home of the 2019 Dirtybird BBQ, to shake some tail feathers and get down to house music. After a year of no contact, it was clear this day festival was much needed. Label head Claude VonStroke heard the flocks’ prayers and answered. The grassy oasis in the middle of Downtown LA was transformed in classic Dirtybird form with camp games, activities, delicious Grill$on BBQ, and of course live music. KINK, the analog maven, made a glorious appearance, traveling all the way from Bulgaria, to captivate fans with a one-of-a-kind performance.  Two new additions to the family, Nala and DJ E-Clyps, threw down sets ...

This Random Pennsylvania Warehouse Preserves Electronic Gear Used by Kraftwerk, Jimi Hendrix, More

Located about an hour north of Philadelphia, Harleysville, Pennsylvania is not exactly an EDM destination town. However, a warehouse in the town of 9,500 is reportedly the resting place of a treasure trove of rare electronic music artifacts used by legendary artists from the 1930s through the late 80s. The nearly 3,000-piece collection was started 20 years ago by Vince Pupillo, a longtime fan and player of electronic music. Over time, he became known as “the guy who would buy instruments that otherwise might be thrown away,” according to a report by WHYY.  “I did whatever I had to do to get those instruments under one roof and preserved,” Pupillo said. “A lot of musicians and folks in the music industry, they want to preserve their legacy, and they see what we’re doi...
