Watch Eurovision Champs Maneskin Rock Billie Eilish’s ‘Bury a Friend’

Eurovision 2021 winners Måneskin know what it takes to rock a crowd. The Italian band proved their metal mettle recently when they performed their thrashy take on Billie Eilish’s 2019 song “Bury a Friend” at Belgium’s Ronquière Festival on Saturday (Aug. 14). The original tune — which they also played along with covers of songs by The Four Season, Harry Styles, The Killers and The Stooges the night before at the Rock For People festival in the Czech Republic — is a series of low key beats, squeaks and Eilish’s whispery vocals. In the hands of the Mån from Rome, it is transformed into a grungier, edgier rock tune with a ripping guitar solo. “What do you want from me?/ Why don’t you run from me?/ What are you wondering?/ Wh...

First-Time ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Streamer Discovers Insane Glitch for Speedrunners

Twitch streamer Boba has just introduced Metal Gear Solid speedrunners to a previously undiscovered glitch that shaves over two minutes of the game. The glitch happens during the never-ending staircase sequence where players must battle up the stairs. Boba is stopped by two guards where she is attacked and accidentally gets pushed through the door that’s normally locked. The amazing thing is that in the 23 years of the game’s existence, no one has discovered this glitch, only to be discovered by a first-time player of the game. At first, Boba thought it was an old glitch that had already been discovered, but with the overwhelming reaction from the MGS speedrunning community, giving the glitch the name the “Boba Skip,” the streamer is quickly realizing just what her happy accident has done ...

California Regulator Claims Riot Games Silenced Employees Over Harassment and Discrimination Complaints

Straight after taking action against Activision Blizzard for alleged sexual harassment and gender discrimination, California’s Department of Fair Employment and Housing has now gone after another company within the gaming industry, this time claiming that Riot Games had silenced its employees from issuing complaints over the same harassment and discrimination within the workplace. In 2019, following a year of litigation, Riot Games had settled a lawsuit with employees over claims that it had fostered a gender-discriminating and toxic workplace culture. Following an investigation by the DFEH, the department found that the language used within that settlement had to the chilling effect of deterring Riot employees from speaking up against the same behavior. “Agreements that attempt to bar ind...

Colors II – BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME

RATING: 8/10 The prospect of a “sequel” to a beloved album is welcomed with as much trepidation as that of a sequel to a beloved film. BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME‘s 2007 record “Colors” was the moment the North Carolina group arranged the individual pieces of their infections influences from the worlds of technical hardcore, melodic prog-metal and guttural death metal into a truly cohesive expression of powerful musicianship. This year’s “Colors II” doesn’t quite hit the refreshing heights of its predecessor, but it is a strong statement from a band comfortably acknowledging its past, while still finding a few new tricks to keep pushing their sound forward nearly twenty years into its existence. Much like the original “Colors”...

GENE SIMMONS Doesn’t Know What Happened To DAVID LEE ROTH

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Gene Simmons confirmed that David Lee Roth is no longer the support act for KISS‘s rescheduled U.S. leg of the farewell tour. The legendary VAN HALEN frontman performed as the opening act for the February/March 2020 North American leg of “End Of The Road” but is not making any appearances on the KISS shows which kick off on August 18 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Asked about Roth‘s absence from the trek, Simmons told Rolling Stone: “It bears noting that during Dave‘s heyday, nobody did what he did. He was the ultimate frontman. Not [Robert] Plant, not Rod Stewart, nobody. He took being a frontman way beyond anything. And then, I don’t know what happened to him… something. And you get modern-day Dave. I prefer t...

Japan’s All-Female Metal Band LOVEBITES To Go On Hiatus Following Bassist’s Exit

LOVEBITES, the all-female heavy metal band from Tokyo, Japan, has announced that it “will be taking a hiatus from all activities” following the departure of bassist Miho. Miho shared the news of her exit from LOVEBITES in a statement earlier today. She said: “To all my loving and supportive fans, it was really hard to make this decision, but I have to announce my departure from LOVEBITES as of August 17, 2021. Given the current state of the world, it has made it difficult for me to give my goodbyes in person, so I really apologize for those who are shocked by this sudden announcement. “Over the past couple of years, I have been self-reflecting and reconsidering how I can be myself as a musician. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” Sets Record for Most Weeks on Billboard Hot 100

Perhaps Abel Tesfaye should change his name to The Year and a Hlf. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” has now been pulsing along the Billboard Hot 100 for 88 consecutive weeks, which means it’s officially broken the record for longest run on that venerable chart. The Hot 100 has been around since August 4th, 1958. Previously, this title was held by Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” a taste-free mashup of rock and dubstep that thumped its way to 87 consecutive weeks between 2012 and 2014. We deserved a better record holder, and now we’ve got one. “Blinding Lights” was released as the second single off The Weeknd’s most recent album After Hours, and it premiered at No. 11 on the Hot 100 on December 14th, 2019. It dropped all the way to No. 52 in its second week, but like so many son...

“Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” Rapper Silento Indicted on Murder Charges

I’s probably time we retire “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” for good. After being arrested for murdering his cousin earlier this year, Silento — the Atlanta rapper behind the viral hit — has now been indicted. Silento faces four felonies, including one count of malice murder and one count of felony murder, TMZ reports. He was also charged with aggravated assault and gun possession during the commission of a felony. Born Ricky Lamar Hawk, Silento was arrested by police in DeKalb County, Georgia on February 1st, after it was reported that his cousin, Frederick Roots, had been shot and killed on January 31st. “After a thorough investigation, DKPD detectives identified Hawk as Rooks’ cousin, and the person responsible for Rooks’ murder,” police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent said.
