Music Companies Delay Return to Office, Mandating Vaccines

Moore adds that the highly-global nature of the Spotify workforce — the company boasts 50 offices across 25 countries — made instituting a blanket vaccine mandate even more challenging. “In some countries, in some regions, it would actually be illegal to do so,” says Moore, “and so we’re just sort of taking the stance that people will make good decisions.” Notably, local ordinances in major urban centers could force companies’ hands. Earlier this month, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that a proof of vaccination will be required to enter indoor restaurants, gyms and performance venues in the city starting on Aug. 16 — though the order does not yet apply to offices. Last Tuesday, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors voted to look...

He describes his leap of faith as the ultimate “cinematic hustle move.” He began exploring music about two years ago but never thought he could pursue a career in it. He discovered his talent and passion for composing music in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and took his shot. He packed up his stuff, left Canada, where he was in grad school, moved first to New York, and later to Miami. After a few months of living in Miami, in December to be exact, he decided to direct message Maffio on Instagram. Twenty minutes later Maffio replied, they met up, and the rest is history. On Aug. 20, Calacote will be dropping his de...

Longtime The Cure Bassist Simon Gallup Reportedly Quits Band: ‘Just Got Fed Up of Betrayal’

Gallup didn’t elaborate on what, if any, incident, precipitated his split, and at press time, it did not appear that frontman Smith had reacted. But as Variety pointed out, in 2019 Smith told the Irish Times that if the second longest-serving member of the group took leave, “it wouldn’t be called The Cure.” That same year, he also told the NME that their relationship was the key to the band’s success. “For me, the heart of the live band has always been Simon, and he’s always been my best friend,” Smith said. “It’s weird that over the years and the decades he’s often been overlooked. He doesn’t do interviews, he isn’t really out there and he doesn’t play the role of a foil to me in public, and yet he’s absolutely vital to what we do. We’ve had some difficu...

The last time all 30 games were occupied by the same platform and company was back in 1988, when Nintendo’s Famicom (the Japanese version of NES) reigned over the charts. “It wasn’t that unusual during the early 1990s for the Top 30 to be a combination of Famicom, Super Famicom and Game Boy games, but never just one,” tweeted the Game Data Library, a platform tracking Japanese vi...

This weekend’s shows came more than two months after Neil struggled to complete his solo concert at the Boone Iowa River Valley Festival in Boone. Based on fan-filmed video footage of the gig posted on YouTube, the 60-year-old rocker, who hadn’t performed in more than a year and a half due to the COVID-19 pandemic, began losing his voice several songs into his set, which consisted exclusively of CRÜE classics and cover songs previously recorded by the band. 14 songs into the performance, Vince attempted to sing CRÜE̵...
