As live music events continue to return, an open letter from the UK organization UN Women is aiming to ensure that they do so in a safer and more inclusive capacity for women. A survey conducted by YouGov in 2018 identified that 40% of women report being sexually harassed at public live music events. Within the music industry itself, the survey reported 60% of industry professionals who are women have been subjected to sexual harassment. “As our spaces reopen this summer, we will not wait around while another woman experiences sexual harassment, violence or abuse—as an artist, as a professional, or as a fan,” the letter says. “Let’s act now to make our music industry and live events safe.” Numerous artists including MNEK, Sigrid, Anne-Marie, an...
Ibiza’s Café Mambo is teaming up with Absolut Vodka to provide one DJ the performance opportunity of a lifetime. A staple of Ibiza’s “sunset strip,” Café Mambo has been a family-run business for over two decades, and a variety of iconic DJs have graced its stage, such as Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, and Swedish House Mafia. Now the storied venue is running a contest to determine who will play a sunset set at the picturesque beachfront property. DJs need only put together their best 30-minute chill out mix, upload it to Mixcloud, and tag it #CafeMamboAbsolutDJcompetition in order to be considered. Mixes need over 50 plays to qualify for the shortlist and a winner will ultimately be decided by Café Mambo’s resident DJs Jason Bye, Andy Baxter, Danny O, and Sa...
MASTODON‘s Brann Dailor has paid tribute to Joey Jordison, saying the late SLIPKNOT drummer was “a total sweetheart” whose “influence is felt in many different genres.” Jordison‘s family confirmed that he passed away “peacefully in his sleep” on July 26 of an unspecified cause. He was 46 years old. Dailor discussed Jordison‘s passing during a recent appearance on “The Jasta Show”, hosted by HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta. After Jasta noted that Joey “lived more in 46 years than a lot of people live in a hundred,” Brann said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It was grandiose. That’s for sure. Everything he did was big, and his personality was huge, even though he was just a little guy. The kid was...

NONPOINT frontman Elias Soriano spoke to Bernard Cana of The Photo Pit about his band’s plans to offer “VIP experiences” to its fans on its upcoming tour. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m nervous because of what’s going on with COVID, to be able to be that up close and personal on this next run. We’re having a VIP experience where we’re trying to give them some kind of experience where they get to see us up close and ask questions and take pictures with us without possibly catching it from one us, God forbid — if we happen to catch it. So, what we’re trying to do and what we’ve done and decided in our camp… We’re all vaccinated. We’re gonna stay inside the bubble. We’re gonna make sure that the ...
SACRED REICH frontman Phil Rind has reflected on the passing of the group’s former guitarist Jason Rainey, saying he and his bandmates “saw it coming for a long time.” Rainey died in March 2020 of a heart attack. His death came more than a year after he was fired by SACRED REICH just as the band was beginning to record its comeback album, “Awakening”. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It was really tough. I’m probably closer to Jason than anybody else. We’ve known each other… I was 16; I’m 52 [now]. So we’ve ...

Live Nation updated its COVID-19 policy to require concert-goers, artists, and crew to show proof of vaccination or a negative test at all its venues and festivals. The entertainment industry giant previously announced this decision would be up to the artists; however, with the Delta variant surging and Chicago’s Lollapalooza successfully implementing the model in July, Live Nation decided to make these stricter policies mandatory starting in October, “where permitted by law.” “Vaccines are going to be your ticket back to shows, and as of October 4th we will be following the model we developed for Lollapalooza and requiring this for artists, fans and employees at Live Nation venues and festivals everywhere possible in the US,” Live Nation president and CEO Michael Rapino said in a statemen...
On September 3rd and 4th, A State Of Trance was scheduled to celebrate its landmark ASOT1000 event in the Netherlands, but due to ongoing pandemic restrictions around large events, it has been postponed until February 2022. After Prime Minister Mark Rutte pushed the restriction of large scale events until at least September 20th, ASOT1000 promoter ALDA had no choice but to pull the plug. In the Dutch government’s recent moves to block festivals such as Tomorrowland from taking place, they have cited both size and scope as a concern. In the case of ASOT1000, the sold-out event is expected to host 55,000 concert goers, the majority of whom would be traveling from abroad. In fact, the scope of attendees includes travelers from over 100 different countries. The current limitations ...

Among those who offered their own renditions of the song are Suark, Bryan V, Loca, 3BallMTY, Rudeejay & Da Brozz, and more. Each of the remixes brings an entirely new feel to the track, transforming the trappy original into a variety of different genres. While “Pickle” itself was unlike NERVO’s usual releases, fans who enjoy the song will undoubtedly enjoy the wide array of re...
