Kanye’s ‘DONDA’ Event Breaks Record for Highest-Grossing U.S. Tour Solely Off of Its Merch Sales

Kanye West has broken the record for the highest-grossing U.S. tour based on DONDA in-person merchandise sales alone, according to Billboard, which began tracking touring data in 1990. Clocking in $7 million USD in revenue just from its merchandise, the second DONDA listening event on August 5 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium beat out previous record holder Taylor Swift, who grossed a little under $7 million USD per show for 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour. Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia, designed the highly sought-after event merchandise, which included $100 USD beige and black versions of long-sleeve shirts that were printed with a Star of David with a crucifix in its center and read “DONDA 8/5/2021 Mercedes-Benz Stadium Atlanta.” #DONDA MERCH ? pic.twitter.com/s28laAKz...

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Reunite for New Album Raise the Roof, Share “Can’t Let Go”: Stream

Few cover albums can be considered legendary, but then, few cover albums ascend to the lofty heights of 2007’s Raising Sand. More than a decade after they intertwined their indelible voices (and winning the Grammy for Album of the Year in the process), Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have reunited to announce Raise the Roof, a new album arriving November 19th on Rounder Records. To whet the appetite, the duo have shared their take on “Can’t Let Go,” a song by Randy Weeks that was made famous by Lucinda Williams. Like Raising Sand, Raise the Roof was produced by T-Bone Burnett. It includes songs by Merle Haggard, The Everly Brothers, Anne Briggs, Allen Toussaint, Geeshie Wiley, Bert Jansch, and more, as well as “High and Lonesome,” an original song co-written by...

St. Vincent and Carrie Brownstein Share Trailer for Metafictional Rock Doc The Nowhere Inn: Watch

IFC Films has unveiled the first full look at its upcoming feature film The Nowhere Inn, starring St. Vincent, Carrie Brownstein, and Dakota Johnson. Stream the trailer below. Directed by Bill Benz, the metafictional film features the indie rocker and Portlandia star portraying fictional versions of themselves out to make a documentary about the provocateur otherwise known as Annie Clark. But as the movie progresses, “what began as a straightforward glimpse into an artist’s life and career gradually morphed into something altogether different – and strange.” “You’re nerdy and normal in real life, but the disparity between that and who you are on stage as St. Vincent is jarring,” Brownstein complains in the trailer, leading Clark to reply, “I can be St. Vincent all the time, so that I can b...

Trivium Announce New Album In the Court of the Dragon, Share “Feast of Fire”: Stream

Trivium have announced their new album, In the Court of the Dragon, which arrives October 8th. The band has also unveiled the video for sophomore single “Feast of Fire.” The new song is a technical gem, seamlessly blending elements of thrash and melodic metalcore as only Trivium can. Hooky vocals give way to heavy breakdowns and shred soloing, as the band cover all its extreme-metal bases. According to bassist Paolo Gregoletto, the song actually originated from the bridge of an existing composition. Apparently, the bridge section was just too good, so the band made an entirely separate song around it, which became “Feast of Fire.” Advertisement Related Video “There’s always that one song you aren’t expecting when you begin writing a new album,” Gregoletto said via a press release. “It coul...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Tiptoes Around Police Corruption in Its Final Season: Review

The Pitch: The Nine-Nine is back, baby, but the precinct just isn’t the same: The one-two punch of the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-George Floyd reckonings with the utility of American policing have left the gang more dispirited than ever. Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) quits the force in disgust at her complicity and becomes a private detective; Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker) retires and mostly just hangs out with Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) over FaceTime; the strain of being a Black precinct commander has even taken its toll on Capt. Holt’s (Andre Braugher) personal life. But can the gang pull together and do their jobs — and maybe even enact some positive change within the force? Reading the Room: Even for hardcore Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans (of which I consider myself one), th...

The soulful...
