MIKE PORTNOY And ALEX SKOLNICK Have A ‘Bad Feeling’ About COVID-19’s Impact On Upcoming Tours

Mike Portnoy (DREAM THEATER, THE WINERY DOGS, SONS OF APOLLO) and Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT) have both expressed their concern over the increasing number of concerts and tours that are being canceled as the coronavirus is still spreading, especially among the unvaccinated. In the past week, a number of high-profile hard rock and heavy metal artists — including TESLA, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, SHINEDOWN and LIMP BIZKIT — have called off shows or played concerts without members who have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The cancelations and the increased number of COVID-19 infections are driven in large part by the fact that the delta variant of the coronavirus, now the most common strain circulating in the United States, has a supercharged transmissibility, dri...

Xbox Publicly Testing a Night Mode To Ease the Strain on Your Eyes

Microsoft is now publicly testing a night mode for Xbox, finally bringing a feature that’s long been on smartphones to the console world. According to reports, the new night mode will help you dim your screen as well as the power button on the console and the lights on your controller. You’ll also be able to turn on blue light filtering and disable HDR to reduce stunningly bright scenes, all of which help to reduce the strain on your eyes, especially when playing in low-light environments. You’ll be able to toggle these features on and off manually but also set automatic timers so they kick in at a specified time automatically. The feature is now being tested by those in the Alpha Skip-Ahead group, but it’ll probably getter a wider release once the features have been finetuned. Elsewhere i...

DaBaby Retracts Apology for Homophobic Rant

DaBaby has retracted his apology to the LGBTQ+ community which he made in response to the growing controversy over his homophobic rant at last month’s Rolling Loud Festival. Amidst public outcry, the rapper posted the apology to Instagram on August 2nd. “Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes,” DaBaby wrote. “As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me– knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance– has been challenging. I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. That’s what I needed and it was...

Then it turned out that Kanye West was shacking up in MB Stadium and was holding yet another listening session Thursday, August 5. Once again, the reviews were generally positive and it seemed like an even lengthier project—this time The LOX got a last-minute look. But besides the most devout of Yeezy Stans, most ...

He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I learned how to play keyboards better than ever during the pandemic, which I’d never really done before. And that’s where our first single [‘The Way We Used To Be’, which was released in June] came from. [I sent it to] Jonathan [Cain, keyboards], and he did the lyrics on it and put a rough vocal on it. And then we had Arnel [Pineda] sing it, and we cut it and re-cut it in the studio, and it was just released. And a lot of people went, ‘Wow, man. I love it.’ 90 percent of people love it; the ...

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET reported yesterday, TESLA played the first two shows of its summer 2021 tour — August 5 in Grants Pass, Oregon and August 6 in Grand Ronde, Oregon — without Frank.
