Contrary to Microsoft’s loss-making strategy for Xbox harware, Sony has just revealed that its $499 USD PlayStation 5 is finally turning a profit. In comparison, it took the PS4 around six months to stop selling the console at a loss in 2013, whereas the PS3 sits at the top of the list having taken several years of sales in order to make a profit. While the PS5 is nowhere close to the PS3 in terms of its profit/loss ratio, the inflow has been slow due to the use of expensive parts and squeezed supply. Sony’s chief financial officer Hiroki Totoki also revealed that many of Sony’s costs have been offset by the strength of PS4 sales as 500,000 units were sold in the last quarter, bringing its total lifetime sales up to 116.4 million. With gaming at an all-time high, spurred on by the pandemic...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jason Koerner / Getty Epic Games is definitely not reading the room following this discovery. As spotted on The Verge, data miners made an interesting find while digging deep into Fortnite’s v17.30 update released on Tuesday (Aug.3) morning. A file containing audio for a new emote from The Migos latest track, “AM to PM,” which features currently embattled Hip-Hop star DaBaby, was discovered. If you have no clue what is going on with the North Carolina Hip-Hop star, he has been embroiled in controversy following his headass homophobic comments toward people with HIV and AIDS he blurted out during his Rolling Loud Miami performance. Instead of apologizing, DaBaby doubled down on his comments leading to “DaBookings” and “DaBags” being fumbled. DaBaby has sai...

Nike decided to pay homage to those three teams in particular as they were there since the inception of the N...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Josh Brasted / Getty We’ve gotten so used to seeing MIllyz in videos with Dave East that whenever Millyz does a solo or another guest feature it’s lowkey strange. Still the man does have to branch out of his familiar surroundings to get his name out there and for his latest clip to “Emotions” recruits Chiraq soldier G Herbo to roll with him in the streets and keep it thorough from East to the Midwest. Elsewhere Nef The Pharaoh seems to be doing well for himself as in his clip to “Man of My Word” shows off some icey pieces while turning up with his peoples in an undisclosed location. Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from Trae Tha Truth featuring Baby Houston, L’Orange and more. MILLYZ FT. G HERBO – “EMOTIONS” [embedded content] NEF THE PH...

The Burners have gone rogue. An informal group has taken it upon themselves to launch a Burning Man-themed event during the time the original festival was supposed to take place. Due to COVID-19 the 2021 edition of the iconic gathering was officially postponed another year, a move that apparently didn’t sit well with the 10,000-plus people who now plan to descend on the playa with or without authorized organizers. Despite no official affiliation with Burning Man, an Eventbrite page titled “Renegade Man / Plan B / Free Burn” has emerged instructing Burners that the show will go on. It notes that there will be “no infrastructure provided AT ALL,” including porta potties or even ice. “This is the ultimate camping trip for Radical ...
During her larger-than-life headlining performance at Lollapalooza 2021, Alison Wonderland provided one of the festival’s most electrifying moments when she dropped an unreleased remix of Olivia Rodrigo‘s viral hit “good 4 u.” In a clip shared to Wonderland’s socials, fans are able to hear the ferocious rework of the pop-punk crossover smash, which was produced alongside QUIX. Rodrigo’s ubiquitous vocals had the crowd belting along in unison in a surreal moment before the track takes a menacing turn, throwing down a riotous bass drop in double-time. QUIX’s undeniable influence eventually stomps in, rippling through the speakers with a nasty trap section in half-time. No word yet on whether or not the remix is offi...
Electronic music producer MR.BLACK has touched down with “Acid Rave,” a menacing house banger released on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings banner. While simple in its structure, “Acid Rave” brings to the table a powerful electro punch. The vocal refrain of “Acid, rave, love, generation” infiltrates the psyche and calls to mind the peak-time vibes of a dusky warehouse rave. MR.BLACK keeps the listeners on their toes with hyper-speed synth ripples and a thumping beat, akin to an assault on the senses. The track is fit for both large festival stages and dark underground nightclubs— where the crowd stomps in unison—and it has the allure to captivate both types of crowds. “Acid Rave” is MR.BLACK’s most recent single after...
FINNEAS is following the footsteps of his little sister, pop superstar Billie Eilish, by announcing his debut solo album. The 13-track set, called Optimist, is out via Interscope on Oct. 15. The 24-year-old musician wrote and produced all of the songs, including the first single, a dynamic power ballad called “A Concert Six Months From Now.” The single is a bruising meditation on where we are now — a year and a half after the COVID-19 lockdowns began. The video, directed by Sam Bennett, features FINNEAS performing onstage at the Hollywood Bowl (which he namechecks in the song). The sound of clapping and shouting bursts and fades as FINNEAS sees there’s not a soul in the audience. Watch the full video below: [embedded content] Last year, FINNEAS caught up with SPIN following the U.S. Presid...
