Legendary Detroit DJ and electronic music producer K-Hand has died at the age of 56. According to Detroit Metro Times, K-Hand, whose real name was Kelli Hand, is hailed as being “the first woman to release an electronic music record before techno grew into an international fascination.” In summer 2017 Hand was officially dubbed “the First Lady of Detroit” by City Council for her pioneering contributions to techno and house music, as well as her “skills within a male-dominated industry.” She was awarded the city’s Testimonial Resolution, a biographical certificate that lists the accomplishments of a person or organization. HVDES Revives Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” With Angsty Drum & Bass Remix: Listen

90’s kids: grab some Capri Sun, dump it into your morning coffee, and get ready to time-travel back to 2003, when “Bring Me To Life” was soundtracking cry-ragers from NY to LA. Bass music producer HVDES has tapped into Evanescence’s generational rock anthem, flipping the gothic nu-metal tune into a wild drum & bass rendition. Tonal growls and neurofunk bass patches are at the heart of the remix, which uses frenetic drum programming to drive the arrangement home for a proper 2021 electronic makeover. The remix also comes paired with an Ergo Proxy anime audiovisual, which, well, brings the remix to life with its cyberpunk vibes.  Check out the clip below. You can download HVDES’ “Bring Me to Life” remix here. Recommended ...

The Offspring’s Drummer Leaves Band, Tour After Refusing COVID-19 Vaccination

Pete Parada, the drummer for the punk band the Offspring, said that he will not continue playing with the group because he refuses to receive a Covid-19 vaccination. Parada, who has Guillain-Barré syndrome, is immunocompromised and said his doctor advised against getting the vaccine at this time. “The risks far outweigh the benefits,” Parada said in an Instagram post, adding that he was mildly sick with the virus in 2020, and was concerned about dealing with those symptoms a second time after receiving a vaccination. “I’m not so certain I’d survive another post-vaccination round of Guillain-Barre syndrome, which dates back to my childhood and has evolved to be progressively worse over my lifetime,” he said in the note. The Offspring have not responded to SPIN’s request for comment at the t...

‘Diablo Immortal’ Release Delayed Until Early 2022

The next installment in Activision Blizzard’s Diablo series has been postponed until sometime during the first half of 2022 so that developers can have more time to tinker with the game. First announced at BlizzCon in 2018, the free-to-play RPG Diablo Immortal was slated for release later this year, but a recent blog post on Activision’s website said that developers would be working on fine tuning certain features of the game after receiving feedback from its closed test participants. Activison explained that in its updates, developers would be “iterating on PvP [Player vs. Player] content like the Cycle of Strife to make it more accessible” as well as “late-game PvE [Player vs. Environment] content like the Helliquary to make it more engaging.” These improvements will optimize challenges ...

FATES WARNING Guitarist JIM MATHEOS’s TUESDAY THE SKY: ‘The Blurred Horizon’ Music Video

On September 3, TUESDAY THE SKY will release its new album, “The Blurred Horizon”, via Metal Blade Records. The official music video for the disc’s title track can be seen below. TUESDAY THE SKY‘s origins could almost be considered accidental. Guitarist Jim Matheos, famed for his work with progressive metal giants FATES WARNING alongside projects such as OSI and his collaboration with John Arch, ARCH/MATHEOS, penned a few songs that did not fit in with any of his established outlets, and intrigued by this, decided to write more and see where this took him. The result was 2017’s “Drift”, a record that drew influence from the likes of Brian Eno, SIGUR ROS, BOARDS OF CANADA and EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, and now he returns with its successor, “The B...

Industrial metal pioneers MINISTRY will release their 15th studio album, “Moral Hygiene”, on October 1 via Nuclear Blast Records. The 10-track follow-up to 2018’s “AmeriKKKant” was recently described in a press release as frontman Al Jourgensen‘s “societal manifesto and plea for civilization to get back to a set of standards that lives up to and embraces our humanity.” In a new interview with Australia’s Heavy, Jourgensen stated about the new LP’s musical direction: “Same old stuff. Just a progression of the MINISTRY sound that’s been refined for the last 30 [or] 40 years. And I think we hit a good one this time. There’s a couple that I wish I could have back, and there’s a couple that I’m really gung...
