Ted Nugent has explained his decision to resign from the board of the National Rifle Association (NRA) after 26 years. In a July 29 e-mail from NRA general counsel John Frazer sent to board members, it was announced that Nugent, who joined the board in 1995, was stepping down “due to ongoing schedule conflicts.” The following day, Nugent released the following statement via his social media: “Dear Fellow NRA Board of Directors, Members, Friends and Second Amendment Warriors: The time has come for me to face the dangers of burning the candle at both ends. “I have been honored and humbled to represent all those great Americans that voted for me to serve on the NRA BOD for the last 26 years, and will not only continue my calling to fight for the return of the Second Am...

Ritual – NYTT LAND

RATING: 7.5/10 As much as the phrase “each to their own” has been co-opted to justify people having shit taste in music, it’s always good to be fair. NYTT LAND do not play any kind of rock or metal music, instead channeling their Siberian roots into a dark strain of atmospheric, ambient and primarily acoustic folk. If you’re not a massive fan of throat-singing, mouth harp and people banging twigs together, you may politely take your leave. Meanwhile, people have been going absolutely nuts for bands like WARDRUNA and HEILUNG over the last few years. And rightly so, because when heavy music finds itself in a commercial cul-de-sac, the underground always finds new avenues to pursue. This vague gaggle of like-minded ensembles can hardly be labelled as a scene, so fundam...

GEORGE LYNCH Says EDDIE VAN HALEN Was An ‘Incredibly Shy’ And ‘Super-Sensitive Guy’

During an appearance on the “Appetite For Destortion” podcast, legendary guitarist George Lynch was asked about the impact Eddie Van Halen‘s death had on him. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “That hit me personally very hard, and every guitar player I know, pretty much, kind of felt the same way. As we get older, obviously, we’re seeing people go away and pass. And that’s just normal, of course. And we’re seeing a lot of that. And so that’s pretty profound. But, I mean, fucking David Bowie and George Michael and all these people — Prince — these giants… Tom Petty. It’s, like, ‘What?’ All at once it seemed like. But Eddie was on another level, because, obviously, we’re a little closer as far as what w...

Hear Weezer Cover Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’

Counting down to the 30th anniversary of Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album commonly known as The Black Album, the heavy metal legends released a cover of “Enter Sandman” — the band’s most famous song — by the indie-rock band, Weezer. On Sept. 10, Metallica will release The Metallica Blacklist, a 53-track collection of “unique interpretations” of songs from The Black Album, by a range of artists including St. Vincent, Jason Isbell, Miley Cyrus, Biffy Clyro, Phoebe Bridgers, IDLES, Mac DeMarco, Rina Sawayama, and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor. So far, we’ve heard OFF! cover “Holier Than Thou,” Isbell and St. Vincent take on “Sad But True,” Cyrus’ version of “Nothing Else Matters” and Juanes’ take on “Enter Sandman.” Weezer is not a band to pass up a cover opportunity. In 2018, a fan-driven intern...

Kit Harington Says ‘Game of Thrones’ Led ‘Directly’ to Mental Health Struggles

Kit Harington expounded on the effects that Game of Thrones had on his mental health while appearing on The Jess Cagle Show on Monday, disclosing that he took a year-long break to “concentrate on [himself]” following the HBO series’ conclusion. In the interview with Cagle on the SiriusXM show, the actor claimed that the violent and intense “nature” of the series “directly” led to his own mental health struggles. “I went through some mental health difficulties after Thrones, and during the end of Thrones, to be honest,” Harington told the host. “I think it was directly to do with the nature of the show and what I had been doing for years.” Harington played lead character Jon Snow in the highly-acclaimed series, which ran for eight seasons. After taking time away from wor...

In Photos: Rise Against and Descendents Bring the Punk to New York City

On Friday night (July 30th), Rise Against and Descendents played one of the first big rock shows back in New York City since the pandemic started. The veteran punk acts rocked a sold-out concert at The Rooftop at Pier 17 on a beautiful night in the Big Apple. The show marked the second proper concert for Rise Against and first for Descendents since the concert industry came to a halt in early 2020. Thankfully, a clear night with low humidity greeted the bands and the fans, as the Empire State Building could be seen to the left of the stage, while the Brooklyn Bridge was visible to the right. Rising Los Angeles punk act Spanish Love Songs opened the evening’s festivities with a set of anthemic songs, including cuts from their most recent album, 2020’s Brave Faces Everyone. For many in ...

The Offspring Oust Drummer Pete Parada for Choosing Not to Get COVID Vaccine

The Offspring have apparently parted ways with drummer Pete Parada. According to the stickman, it’s because he has chosen not to get vaccinated against COVID-19 due to medical reasons. Parada, who had been the band’s drummer since 2007, explained his departure in a lengthy statement on Instagram, saying that his medical history and advice from his doctor has led him to choose not to get vaccinated at this time. He added that, as a result, the rest of the band feels he’s “unsafe to be around, in the studio, and on tour.” Back in April, The Offspring released their latest album, Let the Bad Times Roll, which marked their first studio LP in nine years. It’s also the first Offspring album where Parada played drums on the entire effort, having previously appeared on just four of the tracks on 2...

Set in 1920s Oklahoma, the story revolves around the gristly murders of members of the Osage Nation, a group of people who became the richest folks in the world overnight when oil was found under their land.
