Rick Astley’s infamous “Never Gonna Give You Up” video recently passed one billion views on Youtube. The video, which was originally released 34 years ago, passed this milestone on July 28, making it one of the most famous videos in internet history. Popularized by its catchy tune and smooth, yet simple dance moves, the video has pervaded the internet for decades. Its power has been so transcendent that it managed to crossover into meme culture, producing the rickrolling prank in 2007. Rickrolling or rickroll is a bait and switch prank, using a camouflaged hyperlink that leads to the “Never Gonna Give You Up” video. When a user clicks on the link with the intention of viewing something else, they have indeed been rickrolled. The prank has undoubtedly been of the largest drivers in viewersh...
Just a few days after the sudden death of longtime bassist Dusty Hill, ZZ Top were back onstage playing a concert in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday night (July 30th). As was the case for a couple shows before Hill passed, the band’s guitar tech Elwood Francis took over on bass. Throughout the evening, singer-guitarist Billy GIbbons made mention of Hill, who had been his bandmate for more than 50 years. “We’re gonna have a good time in here tonight,” said Gibbons as the show began. “Got a new guy up here, as you know. Dusty gave me the directive. My friend, your pal, Elwood Francis is gonna hold it down behind me.” Francis is sporting a long beard himself after growing it out during the pandemic, with Gibbons saying from the stage, “How about that Elwood, tearing up that bottom there for Du...

With vaccines in full effect, many employees are returning back to normal office arrangements. This influx of people moving away from long hours at home is creating quite an issue for animal shelters as pet owners that acquired their pets during the pandemic can now no longer care for their animals. Shelters like Animal Care Centers of NYC saw twice the number of animals brought to them last month at 1,393 — more than doubling February’s numbers. Sad instances like bags of kittens being left on the doorsteps of homes in Dallas are now making headlines as animal centers nationwide are reaching max capacity. “We received prior to the pandemic five to 10 inquiries per month for people who couldn’t care for their dogs anymore. That’s like doubled since in recent months,” said Chloe Esperiquett...

Billboard made earlier attempts to reach Manson for comment through his now former management, but has not received any responses. Following Wood’s statement, a number of other women went public with their own claims against Manson, but his history with abuse allegations stems back nearly 25 years. See below for a full timeline. February 1998 – The Long Hard Road Out of Hell Manson’s autobiography featured a number of anecdotes, which Chicago Reader critic Jim Derogatis called out at the time for “generally mistreating one or more women per page.” In a particularly gruesome chapter, “Meating the Fans / Meat and Greet,” Manson recalled a deaf fan who got covered in raw meat and had sex with a number of band members before getting urinated on b...
