RL Grime and Baauer Announce Collaborative Alias and New Music: Details

Two of the most innovative producers in electronic music have something special up their sleeves. RL Grime and Baauer today unveiled a project called HÆRNY, which seems to be a nom de plume for new collaborative music. According to an announcement by the former, the duo are set to drop a new single this Friday, July 30th. They took to social media to share a preview of the track—tentatively titled “Fallaway”—and if the clip is any indication, it sounds like fans can expect a drum & bass banger. A new website developed for the project tells the fictitious backstory of the alias, which revolves around a “killer truck named HÆRNY.” The site also features a scannable QR code that diverts users to Instagram, where they can capture content with a custom HÆRNY-branded ...

Hannah Wants Performed With a Broken Leg After a Scooter Accident in Ibiza

The “break a leg” idiom recently took on new meaning for Hannah Wants. The famed British DJ and electronic music vet recently broke her leg in a freak scooter accident in Ibiza, where she had been planning to perform for the first time in 16 months. Sadly for Wants, her first-ever broken bone ultimately precluded her from spinning at Ibiza Rocks and Cafe Mambo, two of Ibiza’s most renowned clubbing destinations. But not even a shattered leg could keep her from taking the stage at her first festival appearance since the onset of the pandemic. With the help of some tequila and mummy-like bandaging, she went on to throw down a monster DJ set at Wonderwood, a boutique music festival in Preston. “So my entire touring schedule got shut down for 16 months and just thr...

Rock World Reacts to the Death of ZZ Top’s Dusty Hill: “What an Icon”

The rock community is mourning the passing of ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, who died in his sleep at age 72. Hill was an indispensable longtime member of the “Tres Hombres” and famously sported a lengthy beard like his bandmate Billy Gibbons. Musically, Hill had a gift for rhythm, holding down the band’s airtight bluesy rock tunes with drummer Frank Beard. ZZ Top had just kicked off a massive U.S. tour when Hill was sidelined with a “hip issue.” Longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis filled in on bass for a handful of dates, and today it was announced that Hill passed away in his sleep at his home in Houston. Following the sad news, fellow musicians and rock icons took to social media to pay tribute to Hill and his musical legacy. Advertisement Related Video John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater ...

Netflix Announces New Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy on Set

Netflix is fond of asking if you’re still watching, but during the pandemic the question has become, are they still filming? To keep things healthy and humming along, the streaming giant has announced that it will require COVID-19 vaccines for all cast and crew members in the United States who work in close proximity to a set. Pandemic-related pauses can be incredibly expensive. Just recently, positive COVID tests temporarily delayed blockbuster productions like Mission Impossible 7 and the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, and while we don’t have estimates for how much that cost, the production company behind Apple TV+’s The Morning Show recently sued their insurance company to recoup $44 million lost just waiting around. Besides that, mandato...

South Park’s Creators Are Trying to Buy Casa Bonita

It’s no secret that countless local businesses have taken a hit during the pandemic; as it turns out, even being featured in one of the world’s most famous cartoons might not be enough to save you. The creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, are reportedly attempting to buy Casa Bonita, a restaurant that was featured in a 2003 episode of the show. The company that owns the Colorado landmark filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April, and now Parker and Stone are adamant about keeping it alive. “We want to buy Casa Bonita and treat it right,” Parker told The Hollywood Reporter. “I feel like it was neglected even before the pandemic… We are going to do everything we can.” He added that a possible sale is “in limbo” due to ongoing court proceedings. Casa Bonita is a massive Mex...

Bob Odenkirk is “awake” and “lucid” in an Albuquerque hospital recovering from a “heart-related incident.” Confirmation comes from TMZ, The Hollywood Reporter, and his son Nate Odenkirk, who tweeted, “He’s going to be okay.” The 58-year-old actor collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital on Tuesday night. Odernkirk was unconscious during the initial hours of his hospitalization, but he is now “awake” and on the “rebound,” TMZ reports. New ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 Teaser Features Aquatic Monsters and Desert Aliens

FX on Tuesday dropped off the full-length teaser for American Horror Story: Double Feature, the hotly-anticipated 10th installment of Ryan Murphy‘s anthology horror series. The teaser reveals that the “two horrifying stories” — one that takes place by the sea and another set by the beach — are titled “Red Tide,” which features terrifying shark-like creatures, and “Death Valley,” which centers on desert aliens. The visual showcases the vicious creatures that inhabit both worlds, who presumably meet at one point in the storyline, as the season’s logline hints: “A collision of terror like you’ve never seen.” Murphy also shared an official poster for the Double Feature to Twitter, writing, “Take you under 8/25, next day on #FXonHulu.” Taking you under 8/25, next day on #FXonHulu...

‘Invincible’ Is Getting a Live-Action Film Adaptation

A live-action film adaptation of Invincible is on its way. Speaking at this year’s Comic-Con@Home event, the original comic book and animated series’ creator and writer Robert Kirkman confirmed that a live-action adaptation is indeed in development, although the project is currently at a very early stage and so he couldn’t reveal too many details about it. “This is another one of those things that’s a little early going but I will say that there are massive efforts going in to make sure that the film experience is unique [and separate from the animated series]…while also being true to Invincible,” the creative teased. “I couldn’t be more excited about the stuff that we’re doing but I can’t tell you yet.” What exactly that means is still anyone’s guess, since the animated series itself...

Watch the Trailer for A24’s Creepy New Horror Film ‘Lamb’

Earlier this month, A24 released a teaser for Valdimar Jóhannsson’s debut feature film, Lamb. A24 has now released the official trailer for the upcoming horror film, which follows the bizarre birth of a half-human half-lamb child. Little is known about the plot of the film apart from what is shown in the trailer. The film centers around a couple in Iceland who discover a curious creature in their barn. In the trailer, the couple embraces the creature despite objections from friends. The supernatural drama made its debut at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and received widespread acclaim, with reviews already describing the film as a “disturbing masterpiece.” The upcoming film adds to A24’s impressive roster of cult horror films, which includes Hereditary and Midsommar. The film stars Noomi Ra...

Margot Robbie and James Gunn Say Harley Quinn’s ‘Pretty Awesome’ Fight Scene is Their Favorite Part of ‘The Suicide Squad’

Though only one word separates James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad from David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad, the two films exist in entirely different realms. Five years following the adversely-received movie that gave rise to Warner Bros’ revamped take on the DC Universe, Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is not a sequel, but an alternate look at the entourage of mischievously tactical supervillains.   Similar to the first film, the plot oversees a group of comic convicts, each equipped with their own set of vicious superpowers. The haphazard ensemble must embark on a series of life-threatening black ops missions under the authority of Amanda Waller, a master agent without an ounce of empathy, played by Viola Davis. In Gunn’s edition, though, the squad is tasked with overtaking a modern ...
