In partnership with the animation studio, STUDIO 4°C, Google has launched Doodle Champion Island Games, following a “(c)athlete” named Lucky who explores an island with seven Olympic sport-inspired mini-games and side quests. The ultimate goal is to defeat each legendary sports champion opponent to collect all seven sacred scrolls. The 16-bit world is navigated entirely on the arrow keys and spacebar and is reminiscent of early Game Boy titles. In the beginning, you will be prompted to choose between four teams: blue, red, green, or yellow, represented by the mystical creatures Ushi (a cow), Karasu (a crow), Inari (a fox), or Kappa (a turtle) respectively. Lucasfilm has officially confirmed that they had hired YouTuber deepfake creator as their new “senior facial capture artist.” Shamook, who is a U.K.-based video content creator, recently created a viral deepfake video that garnered much attention from the Star Wars community. Shamook took to YouTube to share an improved appearance of a young Mark Hamill during the season two finale of The Mandalorian. The video, which raked in over two million views, captured the attention of Lucasfilm’s computer graphics subsidiary, Industrial Light and Magic, for its deepfake work. July 30th will be an interesting day for Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the Kyiv Post, a nonprofit called UkrainePride plans to host a rave event outside of the president’s office called Rave Pride. Serving as a protest for the country’s LGBTQ+ community in a similar vein as Kyiv Pride’s annual Equality March—and hosted by some of the Kyiv Pride members who split from the group—the event hopes to grab the attention of the country’s authorities and make Ukraine a safer place for the country’s queer community.
