This Music Festival Converted a Decommissioned Jumbo Jet Into a Stage
Next year, Monegros Desert Festival wants you to do it in a plane—dance the night away, that is. For the Spanish event’s 2022 edition, organizers have purchased a retired Airbus A330 and converted the fuselage into a stage and dance floor. “We will transform it into a club for 1,000 people,” they announced this month on social media. Powered by a partnership with 8.6 Beer, the “Montegros 8.6 Airlines Experience” stage will officially take flight July 30th, 2022. In 2016, The Midnight turned heads in the niche yet devoted synthwave community with the release of their debut album, Endless Summer. They would go on to become one of the most prominent acts in the genre and emerge as a global phenomenon, playing shows all over the world. Now, a half a decade after its release, they’ve teamed up with The Magik*Magik Orchestra for a grand rework of their album. Fans of midtempo music are in luck after REZZ dropped the curtain on an unreleased, upcoming collaboration with Deathpact. The song, which Space Mom dropped at a show over the weekend, is rife with signature elements of both artists, who are among the corps d’elite of the midtempo genre. Hypnotic synths and a menacing, saw-laden drop pervade the arrangement for a typically festival-ready midtempo anthem. Glenn Danzig has announced the theatrical release date for his upcoming vampire Spaghetti Western, Death Rider in the House of Vampires. Caroline Polachek is headed on the road for a 2021 tour across North America. The 22-date trek will take place from November through December. The “Heart is Unbreaking Tour” will feature emerging French producer and songwriter Oklou as an opening act. Kicking off November 16th at The Van Buren in Phoenix, Arizona, the jaunt will make subsequent stops in Austin, Texas; New York City, New York; and Washington, DC.
