Kill the Void Drop Menacing Debut EP, “Cult of Tau”

French electronic music duo Kill the Void have unveiled their debut EP, an ominous three-track techno record called Cult of Tau. The EP is a song-cycle of menacing, industrial techno and experimental dance music. Cult of Tau, which arrives on the heels of the duo’s signing to the UK record label Dance Trax, also includes a forward-thinking remix of its titular track by Assembler Code set for release on July 30th. Created using instruments from fabled audio brands such as Roland, Sequential, Eric Synths, and Moog, the EP kicks off with “Cult of Tau,” a frenetic and glitchy peak-time bomb with a cinematic edge. They follow with “Cosmopendium,” a sinister techno banger with booming kickdrums and an acid-inspired bassline, before tying a b...

Dwayne Johnson “Laughed Hard” at Vin Diesel’s “Tough Love” Comments

Earlier last month, Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel spoke to Men’s Health about his feud with co-star Dwayne Johnson, suggesting that he was responsible for the latter’s exceptional performance in the films due to his “tough love,” and now Johnson has finally responded to those comments. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his upcoming film Jungle Cruise with Emily Blunt, Johnson was asked about Diesel taking credit for his performance. “I laughed and I laughed hard,” he responded. “I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies ...

Michael B. Jordan Reportedly Developing ‘Superman’ Series for HBO Max

Michael B. Jordan and his Outlier Society company might be working on a Superman project for HBO Max. According to reports, Outlier Society hired a writer to pen the script of what sources state could be a limited series. The Superman project supposedly focuses on Val-Zod, the second Kryptonian “who took on the mantle of Superman after the Kal-El of his reality was killed in an invasion of Earth-2 by Darkseid and his army of Parademons.” Jordan will be producing and possibly star in the series, however his commitment as the lead actor is still under wraps. Jordan previously shot down rumors about his involvement in Ta-Nehisi Coates and Warner Bros.’ Superman project, which will be a reimagining of Clark Kent. “It’s smart of DC to grab Ta-Nehisi to go ahead and adapt that project,” he said....

Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker Sing in Simlish for The Sims 4 Cottage Living: Stream

After lots of hype, The Sims 4 expansion pack Cottage Living finally hit stores yesterday. The release includes songs by Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus sung in in Simlish, the game’s in-universe gibberish language. For Cottage Living, Baker decided to tackle her Little Oblivions track “Faith Healer,” which sounds surprisingly natural despite the fact that she’s singing made-up words. Baker even adds in the trills and falsetto climbs that occur in the original version of the song! It’s creative and fun, and yes, packs plenty of emotion despite incoherent lyrics. As for Dacus, she chose to perform her Home Video song “Hot & Heavy” for the game. Like Baker, she seems to navigate the familiar-yet-not complexities of Simlish surprisingly well.  It almost sounds like Dacus has sung “Hot &a...

Vince Staples Gives a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert From the Hollywood Hills: Watch

Following the release of his new self-titled album, Vince Staples made a remote appearance on NPR for the latest edition of the Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series. The eccentric rapper performed cuts off Vince Staples from a scenic Hollywood Hills studio: “You should see this view—I don’t live here,” he confesses. Throughout his 12-minute set, Staples gave stripped-back renditions of “LAW OF AVERAGES,” “SUNDOWN TOWN,” “THE SHINING,” and “TAKE ME HOME,” the latter including a live feature from rising New Jersey soul singer Fousheé. Kenny Beats, who produced Vince Staples, can be seen on bass guitar throughout the set. As always, Staples’ off-the-cuff ad-lib between songs adds a welcome dose of humor. Listen to the set below. Staples’ self-titled record follows his 2018 album, FM! Jus...

ICED EARTH guitarist Jon Schaffer claims to have gone through “two months of hell” in jail after he was detained for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol riots. Earlier today (Friday, July 23), Indianapolis Star published a detailed account based on Marion County Jail incident reports which reveal Schaffer was kept in “Administrative Segregation” after he was arrested by law enforcement in Noblesville, Indiana on January 17 because of his high-profile status. Although Schaffer had no contact with other inmates while he was in his cell or out performing recreation, according to a spokesperson for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office — the jail’s custodian — nor was he ever taken out of administrative segregation, his lawyer claims that he was targeted w...

KORN Guitarist BRIAN ‘HEAD’ WELCH’s LOVE AND DEATH project Taps LACEY STURM For ‘Let Me Love You’ Video

KORN guitarist Brian “Head” Welch‘s LOVE AND DEATH side project has released the official music video for “Let Me Love You”, a fan-favorite cover of DJ Snake and Justin Bieber‘s smash hit, featuring powerhouse vocalist Lacey Sturm, formerly of FLYLEAF. Watch the clip below. Welch commented: “‘Let Me Love You’ has been one of my favorite tracks to cover. It’s so enjoyable to me making a pop song super heavy! Having three vocalists perform on the track was unique as well and I love the way mine, Lacey and JR‘s voices blend together. “When I asked Lacey to do the song with us, I had no idea what the lyrics would mean to her at that particular time. After discovering what she was going through, my main hope with the song w...
