Wiwek Returns With Tribal House Banger “Periphery”: Listen

After a brief hiatus on the new music front, Wiwek has returned with a tribal house banger called “Periphery.” “Periphery” arrives by way of W&W’s Rave Culture banner and combines thumping, industrial kick drums with a rumbling bassline for a surefire festival track. Aside from its massive drops, the song moonlights as a masterclass in melody creation with its spellbinding verses, which are highlighted by trance-inspired leads and spacey synths . Wiwek steps into a time machine for the second drop, where tribal drums take center stage as he dials back to 2014, when his patented “jungle terror” genre dominated the festival circuit. Credited as the pioneer of the genre, the renowned Dutch producer hasn’t lost his to...

Logic Drops Yet Another New Track “Call Me”

Still fresh out of his short-lived retirement, Logic has kept up with his lightning-fast pace of new releases, having already dropped three singles in this month alone. Today, the rapper added a fourth track to his rapid succession of post-retirement releases. “Call Me” is a laid back song with upbeat vibes that hears Logic reflect back on harder times. “Addiction’s like a mud bath without a bar of soap,” he raps, accepting that while it may feel “impossible to stay clean,” he’ll always be there to pick up a call from someone in need. Produced by 6ix and Coop The Truth, the Atlanta-based rapper Dwn2earth matches Logic’s bars with his own smooth background vocals. Thematically, the new single bears some resemblance to Logic’s 2017 hit “1-800” featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid, which was ins...

Yola Walked Through Fire to Stand for Herself

There’s a staggering sentence in the bio that accompanied the sample of singer-songwriter Yola’s sophomore album, Stand For Myself. In discussing a perspective shift since the release of her 2019 Grammy-nominated debut, Walk Through Fire, she says she was persuaded from being her true self, sharing, “There was a little hiatus where I got brainwashed out of my own majesty, but a bitch is back.” With her bright voice, ear-to-ear smile, and face framed with big violet hair, it’s hard to imagine the 38-year-old British songstress as anything other than self-assured, even as she describes what it took for her to get to that place. “A big part of the brainwashing was just white supremacy. We all get the same brainwashing. So if you’re a white person, you’re totally valid in every space, regardle...

Buckcherry’s Josh Todd Wants to Front Minor Threat Reunion, Laments Lack of 21st Century Rock Stars

Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd says he would front a Minor Threat reunion if founding singer Ian MacKaye wasn’t up for it. Todd also lamented the lack of 21st century rock stars, calling the genre “faceless” since the early 2000s. Yes, you read that correctly. The singer of “Crazy Bitch” is down to front arguably the most influential straight-edge hardcore band of all-time. In fact, Todd suggested as much to original Minor Threat member Brian Baker (now Bad Religion’s guitarist) upon meeting him once. “[I told him] ‘Hey, man, if you ever want to do a Minor Threat tour and Ian doesn’t want to do it, I’ll shave my head and we’ll f–king do it!’” Todd recalled to Classic Rock magazine. “[Baker] just laughed.” Advertisement Related Video While the chances seem slim, it sounds like Todd coul...

Camila Cabello returns today with “Don’t Go Yet,” her first new music in over a year. Along with the track, Cabello has also shared its accompanying music video by Philippa Price and Pilar Zeta. The campy visual for “Don’t Go Yet” feels pulled straight from an ’80s Pedro Almodóvar film, complete with an eccentric cast of characters, bold set design, and a few great dance sequences. In the track, Cabello teases a significant other: “Baby, don’t go yet, ’cause I wore this dress for a lil’ drama,” she sings over live percussion by the acclaimed Cuban drummer Pedrito Martinez. Check out the video below. “When it was ti...
