For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, Late Night host Seth Meyers brought back his wildly entertaining segment “Day Drinking.” If you haven’t seen it before, it’s basically just an excuse for Meyers to get shit faced with a celebrity — or, in the case of last night’s episode, a royal. Lorde and Meyers hit the New York City hot spot Zero Bond for an afternoon of over consumption. What began with Meyers making the New Zealand singer cocktails inspired by her own songs quickly devolved into some hilarious drinking games, including one in which Lorde and Meyers had to identify particular royals — or, else take a shot of Crown Royal. Another drinking game involved Meyers having to recite Lorde’s real name in full — or, else take a shot. Still another saw Lorde and Meyers paint...

Yasiin Bey f.k.a Mos Def has been cast as legendary jazz musician Thelonious Monk in the biopic Thelonious, however the late artist’s estate claims that the project is unauthorized. According to Variety, the project is being helmed by Alberto Marzan and Peter Lord Moreland via their Jupiter Rising Film imprint. Moreland is also penning the script, which “will center around [Monk’s] struggles for musical success, mental illness and the spiritual love triangle between his wife Nellie and one of the world’s richest women, Nica Rothschild.” “This role is one that requires great depth and a unique understanding of who and what Thelonious Monk was and how his lasting impact can still be heard throughout the music world today,” Marzan said in a statement. “The moment I met Yasiin, I knew we found...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Joey Foley / Getty When Juvenile dropped his pro-vaccination song “Vax That Thang Up,” he got much blowback from anti-vaxxers who’d rather die of Covid than get vaccinated because, well, y’all know. Now that Logic has dropped his latest single “Vaccine” we wonder if he’ll get roasted by anti-vaxxers even though the song has nothing to do with any Covid related subject. In his visuals to the aforementioned track the “retired” rapper hits the streets with his crew decked out in all-black with ski-masks that aren’t even N-95’s. See, no vaccine or Covid safety talk here. Y’all happy, anti-vaxxers? The Ellie Goulding of yesteryear is coming back. The beloved singer-songwriter has announced that a fifth album is in the works and that fans should expect to dance. In a recent interview with The Joe Wicks Podcast, Goulding revealed she’s ready to return to her electronic music roots after a period of introspective reflection. “I spent a lot of time by myself, quite introspective. I had a backlog of things I wanted to write about,” Goulding explained. “It was quite deep and emotional. And this album is the opposite of that. I found this dream team of writers, who just for some reason, without even having to talk about it, were all on the same page. Together we’re on this mission just to have fun. We just want to make music for people to dance to and forget about eve...
In a new interview with Germany’s Rock Antenne, VOLBEAT guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen spoke about the writing sessions for the band’s follow-up to 2019’s “Rewind, Replay, Rebound” LP. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Well, when we heard it was not possible to tour [due to the coronavirus pandemic], and nobody knew when we could go back on the road, it was, like, ‘Okay, then what do we do now?’ And there was nothing else [for us to do but write]. “I’ve gotta be honest: I enjoyed my time at home with my kids and my fiancée, family. I love it; I hadn’t been home for such a long time. So being able to do that has been a blessing. I’m very satisfied with my life at home, but I’m also looking forward...
During an appearance on the latest episode of the “Cutter’s Rockcast” podcast, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee was asked if there was one artist that made her want to become the lead singer of a hard rock band. She responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I can’t say one, but it’s interesting, I didn’t think about gender that much. It’s such a topic right now. I think it’s great. We’re talking about all kinds of things — inclusivity is big right now, and I love it; so right on. “Before we got signed, when we were kids starting the band, I thought it was cool because I could do things that guys couldn’t do. I could hit high notes that they couldn’t hit, and we could play in different tunings. And I just felt li...
Paul Stanley has spoken out in support of Naomi Osaka after the tennis star was criticized by Megyn Kelly following the release of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazine cover. The KISS frontman defended the 23-year-old athlete on social media earlier today, writing that he thought what Kelly did was “mocking” and “ridiculing” Osaka. Kelly — a former anchor for NBC News and Fox News — criticized Osaka for appearing on the covers of Vogue Japan, Time and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit magazines after Osaka announced that she was going to be taking a break for her mental health. Earlier today, Stanley took to his Twitter to share a Chicago Sun-Times opinion piece about Kelly‘s attack on Osaka, and he included the following message: “Anyone brave & stron...
During an appearance on the “All Exce$$” podcast with Danny Zelisko and Tim Richards, JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford discussed the band’s upcoming North American tour, which will mark the British heavy metal legends’ first run of shows since June 2019. “We kick off in Reading, Pennsylvania in September. So we’ve got some saving grace as far as now and then,” he said, referencing the international travel restrictions to the United States from the U.K. and other countries, including those in the European Union. “I was just talking to Martin, our production guy, about flights back into the U.S., and I’d like to feel that hopefully the corridors between the U.K. and the U.S. are fully open. I think you’ll still have to show proof of ...
