Initially postponed to release this month, Resident Evil Re: Verse sees a sudden delay as Capcom announces a new launch date moved to 2022. The new Resident Evil Village multiplayer mode was originally slated to release back in April allowing a third-person multiplayer deathmatch mode for up to six players. Capcom took to Twitter to make the announcement with no definitive date within the next year as it explains the need to “deliver a smooth gameplay experience.” The franchise also adds that current players with a physical version of the game should keep track of the Resident Evil Re: Verse download code or add it to their account in preparation for the long-awaited launch. Fan reactions to the announcement have been largely negative, with many users demanding an Outbreak remake. The prev...
Just four years ago, Claire Cottrill was creating lo-fi bedroom pop on a simple keyboard. Then her now-certified-platinum song “Pretty Girl” went viral on YouTube, and the unexpectedly biting track cascaded into a breadth of opportunities for the young artist, who performs as Clairo. After dozens of festival shows, collaborations, and an EP, she released her excellent debut album Immunity in 2019 to widespread acclaim. Although many doubted Clairo’s ability to showcase a strong musical identity due to her age, background, and her viral moments, Immunity was an impressive and personal foray into her unique brand of indie pop. (It also sparked her first Billboard hit in “Sofia,” which enjoyed TikTok attention in the autumn of 2020.) Now, two years later, Clairo returns with Sling, an organic...
This may come as shocking news to some, but Bill Murray has signed on to star in Wes Anderson’s next film. No, I’m not referring to The French Dispatch, Anderson’s upcoming film also starring Murray that’s set to hit theaters in October, but rather the one after that. Per Variety, Anderson is scheduled to begin production on his next film in Spain starting in August, and Murray will be on set alongside Tilda Swinton (who also has a role in The French Dispatch). So far, Anderson is keeping the plot of his next film close to his twill vest, but Swinton has hinted that the film “is not about Spain” even though it’s being filmed there. For Murray, this will mark his tenth collaboration with Anderson, having previously appeared in Rushmore, The Royal Tenebaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zisso...
Brittany Howard has lent her voice to jazz drummer Nate Smith’s new song “Fly (For Mike).” If you’ve heard Howard, you’ve likely heard Smith, as he brought his ear for percussion to her 2019 album Jaime. But he’s been a well-respected sideman for years, and has previously sat in with modern jazz greats like Dave Holland, Chris Potter, and Robin Eubanks, as well as hitting the kit for Paul Simon on 2018’s In the Blue Light. “Fly (For Mike)” is a single off Smith’s upcoming album Kinfolk 2: See the Birds, out September 17th. The song is soft and cold, like snow falling at dusk. The track comes with a special dedication. “Every time I fly, I think of my late father, to whom this song is dedicated,” Smith said in a statement. “When I wrote it, I wanted the music to evoke a ...

Founding BLACK SABBATH drummer Bill Ward has shared a new original poem called “Don’t Leave Us”. Check it out below. Ward has released a number of poems in recent months, some inspired by the coronavirus pandemic and others celebrating the fall–winter holiday season, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bill was on board for the SABBATH reunion when it was first announced more than nine years ago, but backed out soon after. The drummer later claimed that he sat out the recording and touring sessions because of unfair contractual terms, although the members of SABBATH have hinted in other interviews that he wasn’t physically up to the task. All four original members of SABBATH were present when the band announced its reunion in late 2011. But Ward split from the gro...

James Gunn finally reveals the real reason why he never considered Jared Leto reprising his role as Joker for The Suicide Squad. Leto’s interpretation of the Joker was first introduced in David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Gunn confirmed that never actually considered the DC villain for the film, “I just don’t know why Joker would be in the Suicide Squad. He wouldn’t be helpful in that type of war situation.” He also added that he wanted the film to be “its own thing completely.” The filmmaker also revealed, “When Warner Bros. said they wanted me to do this, I watched the first movie for the first time, and I called them back and said, ‘What do I have to keep from this movie?’ And they said, ‘Nothing.’” The studio had actually given him the opti...
