Since the release of his debut album, 2011’s End of the World Party, GRiZ has apparently never taken a break. His dogged work ethic has clearly not relented after the announcement of his 7th album, which is due out later in the month of July. Titled Rainbow Brain, the record, GRiZ said, pays homage to the bass music icons before him. This means that it will likely stray from the more tame sound of his most recent album, Ride Waves, and will display some of his fan-favorite bass front and center. GRiZ took to Twitter to share previews of a few Rainbow Brain cuts, including a mind-bending collaborative track with fellow dubstep star Jantsen called “Burn Up The Floor.” GRiZ recently dropped the first single from the album, the titular “Rai...

Mural Honoring DMX Unveiled at the Late Rapper’s Former Yonkers Home

Three months following DMX‘s death, a mural paying tribute to the late rapper was unveiled on Tuesday morning in his hometown of Yonkers, New York. The honorary artwork will live in the parking lot of the Calcagno Houses, a municipal housing complex that DMX once called home. The tribute was created by Floyd Simmons — a New York-based artist who also designed Big L‘s Harlem mural and painted the hood of a ‘64 Impala for Mariah Carey‘s “Heartbreaker” music video. Simmons restored a pre-existing, weathered mural and employed input from local residents, family members of DMX and the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers in order to appropriately shape the new design. The mural’s unveiling comes three months after Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced a desire to honor the hip-hop l...
